Yes. Small village with houses close to each other (land parcels are long but narrow) two miles out of a small town (15 K people).
How do your neighbours feel about the quackining? The opportunitity to purchase a beautiful house in a village has presented itself, it would be leased out for now but it would eventually be my "empty nester".

Well, it's all relative.

Neighbor on one side had cows/pigs until recently so that one is fine.

Neighbor on the other side is trying to have a football lawn in the backyard, a landscaped front yard, and is currently the mayor of the nearby town.

However, the next neighbor over, on the other side of the landscaped football one, has 100 chickens :) so if they can live with that they can handle some ducks.

I do ask. And I apologize for all the screaming caused by serial rapist drakes. And I bring eggs and honey and tomato plants and general garden advice. So far so good.

It fully depends on the particular situation.

Also on the things you just don't know about yet -- what you will consider a complete life later on (since you described this as a possible postponed home).

The drakes! :lau So, I am a young mother which means my kids will be adults by the time I'm 48. So I like to think I will still be fit enough to feed the ducks from my porch swing. There is also the possibly that this village of only 20 houses will have 2000 houses by then, but probably not. It's known for it's inland cyclones.it is across the road from the pub. But that is the only negative I see.

DOes anyone in the shack have ducks with neighbours in close proximity?
I live in a housing development and have 26 ducks, 4 males and 22 quacking females. Three of my hens are Call ducks and can be very loud. I am blessed that my neighbors all love them and say they think it sounds like someone laughing when they all sound off. I am truly Blessed.

I'm 57 and while I can definitely say the capacity for physical work noticeably drops by age, yes, feeding the ducks from a porch swing should work :)

The village pub will probably be gone, replaced by whatever the in thing will be at that time... With the trends in AI I would say people are not going to socialize much at all, most will be trapped in their own AI-suported thoughts.

Inland cyclones sound tricky ... Strong winds can do a lot of damage. But then again it's really really hard to have a definite belief about how any part of the globe will do weather-wise in the next X years.

I don't know how big a bet buying this property would be for you - does it mean "all in", is it easy to sell if you change your mind, etc. But I can say that in general, with age, I believe more and more in the saying "perfect is the enemy of good".

This years’ littles that I kept : ( picture includes their grandmother on the far left)

I found out my Cayuga only makes Drakes, but my fawn and white runner gives me all females yay 😁
