She does have a little tan in her hackles. The lighter blues do. Silvery has the most tan in her hackles, now. Here are a few pics.

Beautiful! This is my girl Gemma. I call her my hot mess :D I’m told her feathers look this way because they’re so soft but I don’t think I’ve noticed any other SG’s with this trait. I hope it isn’t a deficiency of some sort. Looking forward to more SG’s!

She is a very pretty bird! I do have one that is black faced. The one I am petting in the very bottom pic, Lucille, and she is next to the super light one with specks, Blanche, in further up pics. One I call Frosty has ruffly feathers like Gemma a bit.

I just can’t get over how different your Gems look than mine! They’re so gorgeous... all of them! :love

Thanks so much!:love I got my SG's last Sept. from Hoover. I'm very pleased with them and their xxlarge, light brown eggs. I can't shut my egg cartons, the eggs are so large, and my wife's co-workers ask for more of those "emu" eggs.:p

My 2 Sapphire Gem girls, Mary and Julia....I think they're about 5-6 weeks old. They are both pretty calm and tame, but the one with the yellower face (Julia) LOVES to be held and cuddled! I've never seen such a snuggly chicken! If I had known they were so sweet, I think I would have gotten more. IMG_2238.JPG IMG_2262.JPG

I have an Australorpe hen who went broody on infertile eggs. She was way past the 21 day point. I bought some sapphire gem chicks at Rural King and snuck them under her in the middle of the night. I was hoping she would think they are her babies and adopt them. Worked perfectly, she is off the nest and the hatchery chicks have a very protective Mom.
