Last one in the dirt is a rotten egg!

It looks very possible, unfortunately there are quite a few breeds that when full grown look strikingly similar to the Gem so it's hard to tell for sure.

I bought one as a gem and another as an Oliver egger. I determined that the one is an Americauna and I had scratched out the gem. Now I think I'm scratching out the Olive Egger. Whatever she is, she turned into a sweet bird. I thought she was a rooster because she was so aloof and much bigger then the rest. She is already laying and she is just under 4 months. She is very friendly but independent. She sneaks over to the duck area and lays in their nest. I thought I was going crazy finding little brown eggs when the ducks all lay white eggs, until I busted her in there.

I started this post yesterday (Wednesday am) and it read much differently.....

Fast forward to 6pm this evening ..... and my sweet Vivien laid her first egg!!! :wee(She laid a soft shell egg earlier in the week but this egg and it cracked and made a giant mess. But this egg is GORGEOUS!) For reference, she’s 19 weeks old. Cross your fingers, her sister, Violet, is right behind her!

This is our first set of chicks we’ve raised her from a day old chicks to laying, and I have to tell you, Mother Nature and the The Good Lord Almighty stopped me in my tracks for a moment :love

I feel so blessed to be part of this exciting crazy chicken loving community :hugs

She was close. She laid it NEXT to the hen house. :yesss:

Thought I’d add this one for fun! Pretty sure Vivi would be happy being a house chicken! She just wants to be close to ME, ALWAYS!!!

I've been a lurker on this thread for a couple months now.

I wasn't sure if we'd have room in our little back yard, but I finally caved and got a Sapphire Gem (accompanied with an Americauna). Our other 5 pullets were already 12 weeks when we got these, so I needed to set up another little coop for these little girls.

They were about 1 week when I got them for my wife on her birthday. These pics are at 8 weeks.
I can confirm everyone's comments that SGs are quicker to develop. It's very evident.

Everyone, please meet Penny Pigtails (Americauna) and Barbara Logan-Price (Sapphire Gem)
