If you want to talk economics, you are better off buying meat and eggs at the store.I generally don’t prefer dual purpose breeds. Large, slow growing bird that lays a lot of eggs spells huge feed bill. Better to have good meet birds for meat and good layers for eggs.

True. But, if I want to raise my own meat and eggs, I still have a choice about how expensively I do it. It’s kind of like someone spending the night in their RV at a rest area instead of a fancy full hookup with all the trimmings. If they can afford a thirty thousand dollar RV you’d think they could afford to pay for parking and leave the free spaces for poor people.
