Great concept for bantam breeding pens and well-executed. Love the barnwood!

However, I can't rate it higher because the tiny gable vents in the sketches didn't materialize in the finished project and weren't big enough for adequate upper-level ventilation even in the design.

Wonderful construction details!

I can't rate it 5-star though because it's short on ventilation. Had the soffits been left open -- covered only with 1/2" hardware cloth -- and ridge and/or gable vents been included it would have been a solid 5-star.

This looks very promising, but the format of separate articles is awkward.

Looks like you're doing a good job of working with what you had when it didn't turn out to be what you thought it was.

More detail photos would be good -- the framing you made to solidify it would be useful to anyone who ends up with the same shed and the same problem.

Please keep the article updated with modifications as you make them.

Interesting conversion. Needs dimensions, more photos, and some explanation of how the different spaces shown work together.

You're right, it's hard to find plans for hot-climate coops.

I do not normally give a 5-star rating to a coop that doesn't have plans, but with your detailed materials list and excellent photos I think that's not an issue.

The adjustable curtains for weather control are an excellent feature and I like the fact that you listed your predators so that people wanting to copy it would understand when they would need to use a stronger wire.

I'm sorry, but you didn't really show how you made the modifications for the deep litter system. What did the original plans call for? What did you change? How is it working out in practice?

This is good general information, but needs plenty of photos and more nerdy details about the necessary hookups, etc.

Breezy, friendly tone is appealing but the information is superficial.

I suggest going into more depth about suitability for different climates and management systems. More photos would also be helpful.

In re: "Most common breeds of laying hens would be Leghorns and Isa Browns." A quick survey of 4, large, US hatcheries didn't turn up a single ISA Brown. Perhaps substituting "red sex link" would make the article more applicable to a wider geographical range?

Nice overview to help people plan their flocks.

Could be improved with photos of eggs from specific breeds mentioned.

Nice little playpen for use in a protected area on dry days during integration. Plans would have been helpful even if build photos were unavailable.

Good "quick tips" sort of general principles article but I'd like to see more hard info on space required, temperatures, etc.

Great summary of practical principles that could, I believe, be applied to any breed. The comparison pictures were quite valuable.
