I like the fact that this coop is tall enough to walk into and reasonably spacious. However it seems to be lacking in ventilation.

Or maybe it isn't. I can't tell because there are no interior photos and no discussion of design decision, number of hens it will house, etc. I don't think it would be possible for someone to use this article as a tool to duplicating this coop. :(

But the height is a strong point too often lacking in chicken coop builds. :)

Highly informative.

I don't know if I ever will want to do caponizing, but this information would set me well on my way if I were to do so.

Not a bad overview, exactly, but it fails to distinguish clearly between Deep Bedding, a dry, non-composting system, and Deep Litter, a moist, composting system. Though excessive moisture was mentioned in the drawbacks it was not made clear that the composting action requires some level of moisture.

Nor was the fact that Deep Litter works better on a dirt floor mentioned or that it's very difficult to get the composting action going without that ground contact.

There is a ton of good info here, but I can't rate it higher at the moment because you have a lot of autocorrect-type errors, some places that reference links that are missing, and a formatting issue that makes it difficult to read, especially for people with dyslexia and/or bifocals.

If you put an extra space between each paragraph this excellent analysis of the pros and cons of different brooder options will be much more accessible to more readers. :)

I'm delighted to see someone testing these methods in a properly scientific fashion.

My limited personal experience with the Comb Shape method -- which I thought of as a comb size thing -- is that my Blue Australorp males have popped significant combs by 3 weeks, matching the "male" shape prediction exactly. Likewise for my only male Marans.

But a female Blue Rock also popped a larger, though not quite as large, comb at that age -- my notes from when I banded her as a possible male include a question mark. :D

Great photos. A little more info about how long to leave the brace on and how to set up an isolation brooder would be useful.
Sounds potentially useful, but needs information about which of the several dozen sorts of hair tie is appropriate and photos to show how it goes on.

One of the few really PRACTICAL mobile setups I've ever seen. Plans and build photos should allow a competent handyman to copy it.

I particularly like the roof over the nest and the adjustable roof pitches. Well thought out.

It's a good design, well suited to your location, but the article needs work. It's difficult to read as all one paragraph and it would benefit from intermixing the photos with the text describing them.

Really good build photos and the sketch plans should be good enough for a competent handyman to follow. I like the use of recycled and self-milled materials.

However, I don't see any top-level ventilation. Are the soffits open?

I'm sorry to give such a low rating to something you obviously put a good deal of work into, but there are no dimensions, no plans, no build photos, and no ventilation.

Nice little coop for a few bantams. I like that flip-down vent for hot weather.
