I got these chicks a month ago and boy are they cute!!! They got moved outside last weekend b/c they are feathered and the smell was bad. I did stick their bulb in the house incase they wanted it. It's plenty big enough that they can get away from it.
They are in a 10x10 kennel that's...
For the past 2 months or so, Mo has been attacking me when I got eggs or when I entered his yard. It's been getting worse and this morning he got me good and spurred my leg. I ignored him and pushed him away but when I went to give them food, he went towards my face. When I turned to walk away...
I see another chicken yard being fenced off in my side yard next to the silkies b/c these two TSC chicks are the cutest chicks EVER.
I'm guessing the black one as a roo. Comb is bigger and for some reason roos are like magnets to me?? Everyone that has been stuck to me has ended up roos??
So, I've had these guys 5 days now. Pretty sure the two frizzle looking ones are older than the others. They are bigger and have more feathers.
I already have 1 that is velcro to me. I doubt my idea is correct but going from my experience with all my others chicks.......all the others that...
I don't know if I can post this or not?? If I'm not allowed a mod can delete it.
I heard of some chickens at the Murfeesboro TN animal shelter so I looked on petfinder. I wish I could get them but don't have room for them:-( It's 2 roos and 2 hens. Thought maybe someone on here might be...
I pick up some banties at TSC today and just started looking online to figure out what colors I might have. I was looking on Crackle's website b/c they have actual pics of chicks and not drawings and think I might have blue cochins.
What do ya'll think?? I have 3 like this......
My OEGB rooster that I hatched out early last summer is all grown up and looking quite handsome. He knows it too!! He is by far my favorite of them all!!
He just makes me smile b/c he's so tiny compared to my standard NN roo whose in a yard about 3 feet from the banties. T-Bone struts his stuff...
and the fever broke today..hahahaha. Picked up 6 feathered footed hopefully all banties from TSC. Two look frizzle??? Wing feathers all ruffled up:-) It's my luck they will all end up roos but oh well. Then I get home to a lovely shipping email saying my silkies will ship out 4-27:-)
here's...
I am so bummed!! Silkie eggs are blowing up and my only chick to hatch just drowned. I was outside when the down pour started. They all ran for cover and the chick fell on it's back. Before I could do anything, it drowned!!!!! I ran inside with it and got the bulb syringe but too late:-(
Silkie chick #1 hatched:-) Boy did I feel bad when I got home and heard it...I hadn't stuck the chick ramp up to the house and it's been raining since last night. Poor little guy was screaming and soaked. I got it all fixed up so it could get back in and dried it off. It was a happy little...
The anxious, excited stress is killing me!! My silkie hens are sitting on about 30 eggs due to hatch any day. I'm getting ansty as I come home everyday for lunch and go to listen for chirping....hahaha
I have the chance to get some more silkies and possibly a showgirl hen or rooster or both. I only have 2 silkie hens and 1 roo right now but wondering if I can keep more than roo in my side yard. Right now they have a 20x20 fenced off section but I can make it bigger if needed.
I have my wild birds outside that I feed. Since I brought home two kittens for outside mouse control, I'm wondering about moving my bird feeders when it gets warmer. I really don't want the indigo buntings to become cat food when they come back this spring.
The yard where my silkies are have...
My NN rooster has started sneezing again but not as bad as before. Last time the Tylan injections cleared him up quick but now he's really hard to catch. I have some water soluble 20% doxycycline from when I had to treat a parrot.
I looked it up and found it can be used in chickens but said not...
My silkies have been sitting on eggs outside. All was going well until crazy AL hit single digit temps for a few days. Chickens were hatching but dying. Two that already hatched are still outside and doing great!! The temps have been going up and go down but they have heat in their house. The...
One of the 2 silkie chicks that have hatched is not doing good. It's out with the other chick the the hens but can't move very well. They kept stepping on it while I was changing the heat bulb to a hotter one since it's suppose to be 8 degrees in the morning.
I'm bringing the one chick in but...
My two 1 1/2 yr old old mille fleur hens need a home. These are the two that got beat up by my others. The one that got scalped is much better but still has probably a dime size hole left on her head.
Both are great layers and very pretty...even after being beat up.
I have nowhere to put them...
Gotta show off my new bunny:-) She's an English Angora and I named her Truffles:-)
We went and picked her up New Years day. I got her for less b/c I'm wasn't interested in her papers. I don't plan on showing or breeding. We spayed her at work Tuesday and she's doing great. All my buns in the...
