    My drake has a problem

His vet visit went well. He has 3 stitches around his vent to limit the opening but allow elimination. He was prescribed 0.3cc's of metacam to reduce inflammation (more if needed after 3 days, apparently the effects wear off after a few days). In 10 days (7 as of today) he will go back to have...

    My drake has a problem

On Thursday I came home and found my runner drake with his man part hanging out. I observed him for a while and it was clear that it had been out and wasn't going back in. When I locked them up for the night I brought him in, let him enjoy a warm bath and locked him in the dog kennel indoors for...

    **GRAPHIC PICS**/Abnormal fat supplies?

When my hens go broody they loose weight. It takes them a while to recover in both weight and egg production. Why yours wasn't laying for a year I'm not sure. When they aren't laying their combs naturally shrink. Happens to mine when they go broody and when they are molting. I know to expect...

Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

ultasol- I have a blue wheaten cockerel my family wants me to part with. I'm in Oregon, not far from the border. I asked about him on page 159 (https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=426622&p=159) if you want to see him and read the critiques.

Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

I'm sadly looking for a home for my 5-5 1/2 month old blue wheaten marans rooster. Wasn't planning on coming to this swap but I will if someone want's him. I got him from Walltenters at the summer swap. He's not getting along with my brother for some reason and I just think he's too good (in...

Wheaten and Blue wheaten Marans Discussion Thread

He's 5-5 1/2 months old. I was concerned about how much white he has too. His wings have quite a bit. Here's a pic from September. Illia, I tried to get a top down shot but it didn't turn out to be good for shape or width. I think he's a bit thinner than he's supposed to be though.

Please post pics of EE X WHITELEGHORNS?

Nicalandia, I'm not sure what you just said. I've reread it multiple times and I'm guessing you mean that none of the offspring will have green legs because the slate leg gene is recessive. Sorry for suggesting this was true. I was only meaning to share what had been shared with me and what I...

Please post pics of EE X WHITELEGHORNS?

I have some pics of my nearly 12 week olds. Parents were: White Leghorn roo, EE hen. When I first announced I gave my broody these eggs on the EE Braggers Thread I was warned that yellow legs tended to indicate cockerels and green legs indicated pullets. Both of mine were hatched with yellow...

Poor Quality Runners of Khaki Campbells

Thanks everyone. They are indeed pretty, and I'll definitely include a pic wherever I advertise them. DuckDuckDuckGoose I'm located just outside of Portland Oregon. I'd like to sell them for enough to cover their cost ($10-$12 a piece so far). Shipping isn't appealing to me sorry.

Poor Quality Runners of Khaki Campbells

I need to sell these girls but I don't know what to label them as. I purchased them as Chocolate runners but they don't stand up strait. They waddle and my male Runner catches them way to easy. I'm not familiar with Khaki's so I am afraid to label them as such and be a bad person when someone...

Oregon Fall Poultry Swap - October 22 - Corvallis @ the Fairgrounds!!!

My broody likes to hatch them early. I purchased 4 lav or lav split ameraucana eggs from cloverleaf at the swap, gave them to my broody that night. Todays day 19 I have my first chick and all the rest are pipped+. The first pip I found It zipped in my hand The Lav that hatched So cute! It's...

Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

SOLD Ok, I have 2 black male runners and 2 chocolate "runners" that are 6 weeks old. I already have a male runner so I don't need these and I'm disappointed with the chocolates (because they are khaki campbells). If anyone wants them I'm willing to bring them. Here's a picture of them all...

When Butchering - will my hens know what's going on?

My layers tend to leave the area while the butchering is taking place. I don't think they like the capture ruckus or flapping after head removal. Towards the end of gutting and during clean up they appear again and help out. No one seems any different the next day.

Oregon Summer Poultry Swap, Redmond, June 18th

My vote for the 28th was meant more as a vote for June. I'm good with any date. PiperOmar, Do your think you will have any French Wheaten Marans chicks to offer? I'd love some.

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Quote: Flower, My broody is a buff orpington. She's one of my pets for sure but she doesn't teach her chicks to be people trusting. Little Dude has been a good roo because he is afraid of people. I don't want these chicks to be afraid of us so I'd like to raise them. I don't have an incubator...

    The EE braggers thread!!!

Thanks Flower. Cleo is my cuddly chicken and Little Dude has been a good roo. My broody actually hatched Little Dude the first time she went broody. He's just a few days over 1 year old now. This is the 4th time she's been broody. I think I'll just let her hatch these then I'll trade her for...
