    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Wisher, here are my "favorite" 3 with the coolest markings: Forgive the mess... seed starting table mixed with chick dust... Oh and for comparison... here's Godzilla. Same hatch, 3 or 4 days older.

Wow. I would have thought all that dust would clog the egg pores. Neat way of packing.

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

You're making me want to toss my duck eggs in the incubator. They've been collecting on the counter, and being turned twice a day... still not sure what I'm going to do with them, but keeping my options open.

She should have taken them to the Target Photo Center. I agree... my Wisher chicks are healthy and huge, although not even close to being as big as Godzilla Chick. I will have to get a photo of Godzilla for you guys. I was hoping it was the Jersey Giant egg that I hatched, but it's growing...

You may want to put some shavings down on that cardboard. Once they really start to poo it's going to get slick in there, quickly.

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Glad you did that. I think it's a good learning experience to see what went wrong. Sometimes I think that there's something developing in the egg, and then I realize it's just the chalazae on the yolk once I open it. I'm not fooled by that, anymore. I did, once, open up an egg that was perfectly...

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Pick the eggs up. Hold them right next to your ear and tap on the shell a few times with your fingernail. If you hear chirping back, put them back in the incubator. If they've already pipped and are sitting there in the shell and it's been more than 8 hours, I'd help them out if they're still...

And for this reason I only pull when I'm sure they're not good, and I eggtopsy them so I can make sure I'm right or not. eTo eggtopsy, get a ziploc bag and put eggs in it. Smash them open gently with a hammer or butter knife. Gently is the key, here. You want to be able to actually see what...

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Not to mention it's fun to candle. You get to watch the miracle of life. It really is amazing to watch their progress.

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Hopefully it arrived safe. I certainly did not use the Wisher Method for packing. They'd been sitting on my counter and finally one night the stars aligned that I had remembered to pick up a box from work, and had another package to get together. I pretty much threw them in the box and hoped for...

The only thing I don't like about the Brinsea is it's hard to clean the top. I think the Genesis is easier to clean, that's what I've heard.

That's amazing. I've had some really great hatches with fresh eggs from my flock, too. It's a great feeling. Where are you going to put all those birds??!!

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

Don't feel bad. I almost never see movement at the end. They are really folded in there good, you won't see them clawing to get out so to speak until it's time to hatch. Gross picture, but it illustrates a point... They stay like this until it's time to pip.

    The Great Egg Shipping Experiment!

If the eggs are dark all the way though except the top, you're fine. You probably won't see movement.

I could meet you on the border, though. Jeez... I typed Mordor instead of border. One of these days I have got to get some sleep. Good thing I previewed.
