Charity Crochet , Knit & Sewn Projects!! Craft-along!! All Welcome!!!

Scrambled Egg this is such a wonderful thing.

When I had my DD she was a preemie and after seeing the great care she was given and dealing with the neo-natal/ICU nurses and special care nurses, I began making blankets, caps and gown for the hospital's Neo-Natal ICU and PCU unit. I even made burial gowns for those poor babies that did not stay with us

I was amazed at how many of those tiny little bundles had no one there for them and were basically handed over to the State. It was horrid.

Bless you for doing this.

Sounds pretty Lori!! I have about 5 rows on mine...not shells, hdc. I keep switching back and forth between projects, lol!! Cool new avatar!!!

I'm bummed. I realized last night that I probably used too much of the skein on a practice blankie. I'll have to go see if I can get another one of the same lot # so I can finish it If I can't find the same lot I'll get a contrasting color to finish it. But I'm very proud about learning a new pattern

The avatar is my Callie-cat minding the peeps. She really loves the babies!!

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

Lori..list the skien and maybe someone here has it..you know we all have yarn stashes!! If I have it, it's yours..which one are you talking about?

Here is a post I made on the crochet club thread..just want to stay consistent with the info....
In September we will have an official signup list of everyone that wants to participate in a crocheted granny square swap. Everyone that signs up will make as many 6" granny squares...any pattern, any colors...as there are people on the list. Everyone will send their completed squares on the assigned date to Mawchikkade and she will sort them and send them back to everyone so that each persona will end up with one square from each person to do with as they like!! That's the story and I'm stickin to it!! LOL!! It was a huge success in the spring and will probably continue to be a twice annual BYC affair.

In addition, there are alot of people making crocheted and knitted items for charity..such as: preemie hats; preemie blankets; preemie booties and chemo caps for kids. No final decision has been made yet on exactly which charity will receive the completed items but they will all be tagged in some way to indicate that they were made by BYC members and they will all be distributed somewhere before Christmas and pictures obtained to bring back and share with the contributors here on line. That thread is https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=47327&p=7

SE: I've started on the first blanket. I'm sure you all will find a good place for them and I think it's great that you started this.

I'm not participating in this sq. swap because I've got to get a bunch of Faberge' eggs done for a shop but I'm sure you all will have fun and I treasure my sqs. from the last one although I haven't decided what I'm going to do with them yet.

Here's the start of the blanket.

Well, tomorrow is the big day, the start of it all with my boy. We have to be down at Children's in Pittsburgh at 6 AM. We have to leave here 4:15 at the latest, and I cannot sleep, so here I am!

He is having a heart catheterization tomorrow, which is basically the pre-surgical cath. They will also be doing an echocardiogram while he is under anesthesia. Tomorrow, we may also know what day his surgery will be.

I am an absolute basket case. You'd think, after all we went through with Maddie, that I'd know how to handle complex medical issues, plus I'm a nurse, with YEARS of experience. Still, I'm an absolute basket case, nuts with worry.

*sigh*
I'm going to try to lay down for at least a couple hours. It's midnight now, and the alarm is set for 3:30.

I will try my best to update tomorrow, but we may be admitted overnight, depending on what they find.

Say a whole bunch of prayers for us!!
Em

Em. Prayers coming your way.
Probably because you are a nurse it makes you worry more. Take care of your self and stay strong.

May God be with all of you and give you strength

Mangled, you'll be on my mind a lot today. Prayers that all goes well!!

SE, thanks for the offer. I'm going to the store after work today to see if I can find another skein. If not, I'll post the info. DH thinks I'll have enough to finish it without buying more, and that this is an excuse to buy more yarn. He hasn't looked in the trunk of my car lately

Here's what I've got so far. I am loving it that I learned this from a pattern!!

BTW Scrambled, although I love them I can't use your stitch markers very often. My cats think they are kitty magnets

I have a canvas bag for mobile projects done in doctor's offices, waiting rooms, etcetera, so I can use them on the mobile projects. But not at home!
