Chick hatched with ruptured yolk sac

Hope the Chick and all the others hatched are doing great....

The first had it's cord drop off sometime last night, I think it or it's sibling who hatched after ate it as I couldn't find it in the brooder. Then the third and fourth hatched today and the 5th egg is finally pipped and chirping, so it won't be long before that one hatches too. :)

The two that first hatched. A surprise blue, it is like a shiny Pokemon! Both parents are white silkies so I wasn't expecting a blue one, I thought it was bald at first when I saw it in the incubator with wet floof. :lau

The three on their older brother's back, who is 3 month old. The 3rd one was also a blue!

The three on an adventure. Haven't gotten a pic of the 4th yet as it only recently hatched. The 4th is another yellow/white, so I wonder what the 5th will be, a blue or white? :D

Also, mama hen is sorta interested in raising the chicks, but also isn't fully interested. She'll sit on them in the nest and roll them under her like eggs if they are stubborn about going under her, but that is about it. I have been letting her sit with them though worry she may squish them when I am not watching.

Have no worries...Momma knows what she is doing...They try to hide them from our peering eyes...

:frow.....So cute.....Congrats......:woot

I also have a vid of the chicks outside being little cuddle bugs despite it being a very warm day. They then got tired so I gave them to the hen and they snuggled under her. You can hear Papa Roo-Roo crowing in the BG and the chirps of the older chicks, along with a glimpse of my cat. :p

The hen is quite chill with me, probably since I have been treating her with delicious strawberries. She preens my hand when I put it in the nestbox and shifts to let me take the chicks to check over and cuddle for a bit.

She only pecked the camera in the vid as she was intimidated by the strange thing near her babies.

Noticed the 5th egg had a tiny bit of brown membrane around where it first pipped while the rest of the exposed membrane is a healthy white, so I removed the brown part while keeping the membrane damp with warm water. I caught the inner membrane though which caused a little bleeding, so I used a cotton swab and had to balance between hydrating and dabbing until it stopped after a few seconds (felt for much longer, these eggs will be the end of me. :lau) and I put it back in the incubator now with a nice, healthy membrane with no brown spots and a clean but damp cotton swab near it for extra humidity. The chick is quite active in the egg so I feel it won't be long.
