And because it's nice to remember her face, Sandy keeping an eye on the road in case I take a wrong turn.

Thank you for your stalwart friendship, wisdom and kindness @BY Bob :hugs

You're a wonderful friend!
What a lovely group, and great pictures. I must say that though Janet mightn't be the showiest of your girls, I just love her. Her colouring is similar to my lighter DC girls, and that breed (with my BR girls) holds a special place in my heart:love (I know she isn't a DC girl, but the colouring...❤️

I've posted hundreds of pictures on this thread from the tribes in Catalonia; some of the luckiest chickens in the world with regard to freedom and care.
Unfortunately the overwhelming majority of chickens don't live like that and don't look like the lovely chickens in the pictures on this thread.

So, rather than post yet another set of pictures of privileged heritage breeds bred for the backyard chicken enthusiast I thought some pictures of the boring abused Red Sex LInks that supply the majority of the eggs people buy in the UK might be appropriate.

Love the picture of Safe. :love Clearly you are her ultimate Rooster, guarding her so she can do a 'both sides of the brain shut down' nap!

I'm so glad you stopped in, and are sharing your wonderful tribe. As far as 'beautiful', just about all chickens I have encountered are lovely - in looks and personality - when they have adequate care to not look like death warmed over.

One of these days I will have finally caught up on this thread and can start working on your thread. Thank you for the devotion to the chickens in your care.
They are blessed - even if they don't know it!❤️❤️ You have my utmost respect!

I meant the original ones she hatched (Toothless & Tuffnut's lot). I thought too much time had passed between broody and 'her' rooster mate dying, but maybe I am wrong and he was their dad?
Ok sorry I was confused. Yes you are right, too much time had passed and the first group she hatched came from eggs from a friend with a mixed flock. She mainly had easter eggers and wyandottes. Her boys were wyandottes so I always assumed Toothless and Henrietta were EE x Wyandotte crosses. I've always wondered given just how broody Momma Hen is if she had tried to hatch chicks on the hill somewhere when she had her original mate with her. Before he died though when you would catch a glimpse of them I never saw any chicks.

Glad you're cooler there

How is Flexi today?
Bearing up. My friend searched locally for treatment at our chemists today with no luck but he managed too get a rush delivery for tomorrow fingers, crossed it arrives.

Thank you for asking. :) it's a very hard trail here but not giving up on my beautiful mother hen ❤
