Note @micstrachan on a really hot day, I wouldn't risk removing all water, as it is critical they stay hydrated in this heat........I should have put that caveat in my previous post.... shame on me.

Agree with that.
I didn’t take away water just because it wasn’t mission critical that they learn as I was going to keep the other waterers.
As it happened though my chickens have a great FOMO and so when one was tapping away the others wanted to see what all the fuss was about!
Interestingly some of them have different techniques. Diana is a master nipple user and never misses a drop. Maggie on the other hand attacks that nipple like it is a meal worm and as a result only actually gets water on half her ‘stabs’. But she loves that thing and will be banging away at it even when there is other water right near by!

He and Whiskey both are splashy. Kren has some lacing, Whiskey more spangled. With the freezer, the big key is CLOSE THE DOOR. then do the screaming, look at the ice cream, cool the temper, then buy a pint (or more)

1/2 inch bit works fine. I got one installed. However, the girls have absolutely no idea what to do with it. Has anyone had to teach their chickens to use a nipple waterer before?

Peanut butter with some scratch embedded in it on the nipples works really well

I showed mine over and over. Put their beaks in it, etc. No takers yet.

Peanut butter. Or almond butter or sunflower butter (no nutella)

Newfie’s and their Cousins! when there 13 siblings in the family and half of them have four kids a piece, and their spouse also had 10+siblings, with three or four kids each… eventually almost everyone is related somehow!

Missy doesn't like the hot weather we try to keep her inside when it's too hot, she over heated with all that fur!

Glynda is a Frost Legbar. But she looks all White Leghorn right now. The comb will tell I guess. No little toupee for her though.

Storm didn't pop hers until later (from her mother's side, but she had none). Blanche and PITA are supposed to have small crests too, but nothing. Lark and Indigo don't have crests either but could follow Storm's example.
