The camera recorded it. Not well because it is at an odd angle but enough for me to figure it out. From start to my intervention is about 2+1/2 minutes. I ran fast and shouted a lot!
In that time Bella dragged herself towards the wall of the Chicken Palace but then she was trapped. That is when Bernadette threw herself at Minnie - at around the one minute mark.
Here is a blurry screenshot - Minnie isn’t visible because Bernadette has her pinned against the wall - you can see Bernie’s outstretched wing. I was already in sight coming from the right.

Truly a horrible thing to have happen. 2.5 minutes feels like a long time when it's happening but you got there pretty darn quick. Good job.

To the Grass

I am way past when I would have normally started letting the Rascals interact with the big girls for a little bit every night. I don't see how I can let that happen until Gucci can run.

But it is not nice to make them stay in the run when they could feel grass under their feet and sun on their feathers. Also, I hoping that more space might encourage more walking from Gucci. So I wired off a section of the side yard and opened the door.

Glynda and Lady Featherington made it out pretty quickly last night but Gucci wanted nothing to do with outside. So I opened it again for a bit this morning. Here's what eventually happened.

I did also witness Gucci jump up on something for the first time this morning as she jumped up on one of the buckets in the run. That was encouraging.

Of course no sooner did I let them out this morning and a red talked hawk started circling my yard. I was fully armed and ready, rest assured.

So good to see them out and about and to hear the encouraging news. My guess is Gucci could run if she had to. I wouldn’t leave her with everyone unsupervised but small doses of introduction might be just fine.

I have retreated to the sofa to cuddle a cat. There is nothing like a soft purr in your ear to get your blood pressure down.
Bella is in the hospital ward and looks as poorly as before but not more so.
In a few minutes I will go and check on Bernadette and Minnie.

Cats are very helpful at times like these.

Correct. Lucky is doing quite well. She moved on from CCCL's flock to another one so I never see her anymore. I get an occasional update on how she is doing.

So good to see them out and about and to hear the encouraging news. My guess is Gucci could run if she had to. I wouldn’t leave her with everyone unsupervised but small doses of introduction might be just fine.

I do not believe that she can run. She got stuck walking today when she stepped on her own foot and could not pull it out out from under the other so she could take another step. It was so sad. She almost fell.

I'm beginning to fear that she may never be right. She is around 10 weeks old and doesn't walk well, doesn't roost, she just lays on the ground all day.

I think, at last count including babies which I never normally count I'm at 27 or 28. All I know is it is under 30. Now if that number were to top 30, chicks don't count, and for that matter neither would the boys. The good thing about chicken math is you can tweak it to suit your needs unlike regular math. Rosie may have flew through Algebra 1 this year with flying colors but she still does not understand chicken math. She wants to count every single 1. I may have to split the groups up and label some Y's and X's to get it through her head.

There are many fields in mathematics: analysis, algebra, number theory, topology, geometry, combinatorics, and etc. Chicken math is a new emerging field active in the poultry community. Dr. Rebecca Boyd is a leading researcher on this subject. She said the only way to master this field is dive into it, and get your hands dirty. However, this is not sufficient. Many young talented minds including her daughter is clueless about it.
