@BY Bob , I have no fear for you. You are a compassionate and emotionally intelligent man. You will talk with your Dad about your daughter (his granddaughter), maybe her wedding in Italy, reminisce about your chickens from childhood, and/or anything HE wants to talk about. Was there a project he helped you with when you were a child? I'm guessing you got some of your building skills from him?? Again, chat about anything he wants to, or pick his brain for some of the 'olde timey' knowledge that isn't common anymore. I don't know about you, but when I get to be 'old' (if I ever admit to that), I feel I will have earned the right to tell the same story 20 times without reproach, and chat about things I think are important, and complain ALL I want about how terrible youngsters are these days!😆
Even without seeing this........this is what I did and we has a good trip. It was great for him to be with his 2 sisters and brother. They range in age from 90, his oldest sister and the reason for the party to 81 his other sister. He has another brother and sister who could not make it.

I am very glad that I took him and they had this time together.

Ooooooh! Lady F is getting her bling!!!🤩

I decided to do the hardest thing (for me) that I could do which was to just observe and leave the tiny floof alone, keeping stress to a minimum.

I planned on flushing with distilled water if it caked up again and if it had started looking worse I would have gotten Terramycin for sure.

Thankfully the chicks eye is almost completely opened back up now. No crustys at all and she/he was even shoving another chick out of the way to get to feeder!
They are very resilient. I'm glad it is working out well!

Nope. Just plain old Satin feathered silkie, lol. S/he is adorable regardless, though!

P.S. They get the 'special name' because they are a cross with the Polish. Just like the 'doodle' with dogs crossed with Poodles.🤷‍♀️ go figure.
I know I was just kidding. I like Satin Silkie better anyway. I do have to come up with a name for that chick, still nothing comes to mind for it.

Rarely do Roosters & Hens fight. A hen might stand up for herself so he doesn't mate, but rarely is there real fighting between the two. Much more common is Roo to Roo or Hen to Hen. I think you will be just fine in that department!
That makes sense. Patsy just beat on Jabberwocky.
