Bunnies were Back Tonight

The ladies made the same alarm call tonight and three of then, Hattie, Aurora, and Sydney went to peak into the run again.

I got a shot off. It looks like there are 4 of them

I got to meet Mrs. Bunny as well

Then Aurora met Mrs Bunny

I figured out what is going on. Mrs. Bunny is bringing the babies into the run at dusk. She is then exiting the run and watching the door as the babies play in the run. Sometime after dark, they move on.

When I went to the other side of the run to see them, the babies all ran to the wire to see me. It was so cute. :love

It's funny. At this time last year Lilly was chasing the baby bunnies trying to kill them. Now the chickens want to see them like I do and no one chases them. I guess they have figured that they are no threat.

Looks like your chickens adopted a family of bunnies! :D

We have mice. :he The girls know something’s around but I think they’ve been too quick so far.

I have some mice as well... lots of mice in fact. Aside from the ones that are in the trailer (thanks cats!), I also have a happy little couple living under the nest boxes of Mr Marans tractor. There were three originally but one ran off the day I found them and hasn’t returned. I’m thinking that if they get in the family way my chickens will probably end up having some extra protein in their diets... at least they seem semi adept at hunting! (Looking at you Charlie and Bullet!) Then, we have the truck mice. They live in the door panel of the truck. The barn is, of course, well populated too, although I’m thinking that the brooder raids will become less frequent now that all those meat chicks are getting bigger than the rodents.
