I love the last picture you took. They look so content to sit there in the “jungle”.That is not weird at all! Who wouldn't want one of her Marans girls...and some of her extra water given you are in a drought! Win-win all around!!!
Seems these days everyone is either getting no rain (drought status), or too much rain - or too much at once, not metered out nor frozen & accumulating (winter - to gradually melt in spring)
My ducks don't like drought status, as there isn't any mud to play in. However, my plants are very happy I have ducks, as they make such a mess of their water that it gets changed daily...and the plants get the muddy-poopy-dirty water...and you can tell where it had been dumps as those plants and the surrounding grass is a lush green compared to the rest of the yard!
