I would not go back to this vet ... In fact, I would probably have turned around upon the request that only chicken be taken in.

But this Ivermectin only needs to be treated once?
So he said, but I am going to research that for myself! It may be more that cecal worms only need to be treated once regardless of medicine.
The thing is that mostly cecal worms don’t cause illness so are not usually treated at all unless you happen to treat them because you are treating other worms.

On my gosh he is so adorable 💖🤗 (you're fine don't worry 🤗), oh I do so like birds, amazing creatures.

He sure looks ok. How long do they live for?
If taken care of properly 20 to 30 years in captivity. One of my brothers online friends is a vet, and she jumped him the first night when he told her what petco told him to feed him. Gave him a crash course in what he really needed. He came home last night with a different type of pellet and every veggie she told him he needed for his chop.

You know, I think she is already named and you have yet to realize it. Piou-piou is a cute name, and a endearing one for a tiny bird.

As a non-French speaker I actually think Piou-Piou is an adorable name.
Ok, I think you've all got a point! She will stay Piou-piou for the time being 💚.
If she is really a "she", because she has begun tidbitting for her siblings 🙄.
I've seen a few times some of my hens doing that, probably to imitate / challenge Théo, so I'm hoping it's the same.
I'm sorry it didn't work out but it's good to have confirmation she's not egg bound. I hope the bloods will show what's wrong. I think you should've been allowed in as you may have been able to support his thinking.

I am very lucky wrt to the hens' vet. And the longer we know each other, the better our understanding gets. Speaking of which, Ivy and Janet have checkups Saturday morning.
Much like with human doctors. They can be competent but I believe the relationship is also important. Maybe less so when you are talking about a very specialized health issue, but a family doctor needs to be able to explain, and also to listen and take into account his patient.
So I agree with the mix them approach.
Normal roosting order has returned to the Chicken Palace. Maybe Lulu is feeling better after her off-label worming!View attachment 3233818
I really hope so! Please keep us posted on how she's doing and on the blood result!
Well covid, flu.... Whatever it is I sick, thanks for asking 💖.

I am leaning towards influenza as the symptoms are exactly what I get from flu. Starts with headache, then the 'careful cough' next fever body aches, vicious headache, then seriously evil sore throat (which started tonight), and more serious cough (which also started tonight).

I had been taking my Tylenol 1s, but went to Aleve, as it worked better and longer of headaches and achy body. Aleve is great but I can't take more than a few doses before it starts to bother my stomach.... On the up side my back is great with the Aleve hahaha!

Now I am just waiting for it to kick in here, my barn cams are still down so I can't see the horses and chickies darn it! It's official I am addicted to the barn cam 😁

Screenshot from the barn cam a while back, looks like Curly sleeping with her head Hany down 😲

Well, be careful to get enough rest. Our bodies need sleep to heal! (And medicine too, don't get me wrong 🙂).

I don't know if it's also the case in the US and in Canada, but NSAID recently got a very bad press here and there's a lot of pressure not to use them anymore. I get that it makes sense for some things, but certainly not for all.

Two for Tuesday pictures. In all these pictures the subjects are chowing down on a box of grape nuts cereal that was given to me. I used to call that horse feed.....now it is chicken feed.

2 new BFFs, I really do not want to know what Raven was telling Wasabi. I know she is putting her up to no good.

Those are wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

Events in the night
For some reason I woke up just before midnight. I too am addicted to my cameras so when I woke I checked on my feathered babies.
SHOCK - there were only three on the roost.
LULU IS MISSING!!!!
I scan the cameras for her lifeless body ready to leap out of bed if she is hurt or in trouble.
What I see is her jumping into the nest boxes. In the dark!
Here she is peering into the dark for a landing spot (reminder - all the books say chickens cannot see at night!).

I fell back asleep and this morning when I woke at 5am there were four chickens on the roost.

LULU IS BACK ❤️❤️

Looking at the recordings I learned that at about 1:30am she emerged from the nest box and went back up to the roost.

She is behaving normally this morning, and no egg was laid in the night.

I hope she is just eccentric, or needed privacy to communicate to the aliens, and it is not a sign of illness.
:fl

I am missing my babies, my cameras are still down as I have been so miserable today I didn’t get around to fixing the network issue to the barn. I could barely get the horses fed and watered.

I can barely type this… and I can’t pay my taxes 😢😢😢 - sorry Bob.

I almost asked my mum to go out and take photos. I think I will soon drag my butt out there and do the horses for the night, and put everyone to bed for the night.
:hugs :hugs :hugsplease get well soon.
