Went out this morning to do some trimming. Hopefully more of them can now fit under here and still enjoy the cover

The trimmings from the deck got taken out the other side of the carport and dumped on top of some of the tall weeds. We'll see if the weeds keep the brush pile up or if I need to get more creative. Then some time in the coop. Hector and his girls are now 24 weeks old.

no idea what the sound he makes at the end means.

That's exactly the sound Théo makes all the time! I tried to ask about it on shadrach's thread but I never managed to catch it on video and I can only describe it by saying "he growls".
He does it so often that I've got a good idea of what it means by now. Just once, it's "I'm surprised/ watch out". He does it when he sees us coming fast on him for example or when he sees the cat. Done very softly, it means low level alarm. And more than once very loudly it's Sauve qui peut : danger, hide quick !

It's funny because when he makes it loud it's actually quite scary, if you don't see him you would never imagine a tiny rooster but some kind of wild huge feline 🤣.

I hear a loud growl from Cheetah over ANY bird flying through. Dangerous birds (hawks) are a quiet growl.

Wow - that sound at the end has a very 'ancient' feel to it. Real dinousaur roar!

Yes, it was shadrach's remark that alert sounds are normally very quiet so as not to attract attention. Théo probably thinks he's some kind of lion that can take any attack...though when we actually had hawk attacks, twice he flew so far away it took us fifteen minutes to find him 🙄. Granted, he was still a baby then!

Staying in the noise theme. That such a little thing as Chipie may cause so much chaos is always a wonder.

If she's anything like Nellie, "I HAVE to lay an egg and someone's in the coop! I canNOT lay with someone in here!"
Yep that's it ! Nougat that's briefly shown also screaming was trying to lay in the pet carrier in the pen, and Chipie wanted the place 🙄. So everyone ends up screaming 🤣.

I must get a video of her running after Gaston and his terrorized squeaks, it's really funny (except for Gaston ! ).

It's official. New layer today. Nox or Mera (Mera has greater comb/wattles development). Storm and one of the white egg ladies layed in the same place today.
