Rained most of the night :wee
Flood watch issued to to possibility of flash floods (on a hill, so no worries, nothing happening below us either).

Cheetah already crowing, but if I open the coop now, they're all going to look at me like I'm cracked.
Beautiful start. Please have a lovely day.

I'm ashamed to ask so I'm putting this at the very end 😉...what does koffee klatch means ?

No need to be embarrassed ever. I saw the term Coffee Clatch was explained to you in human terms. In chicken terms it developed here in 2020 when Sydney's children, Ned and Lucky would come and sit with me in the morning while I had my first cup of coffee.

This was incredible! She wasn't joking around. I can see that she ruled by fear!
Patsy was a mean hen. She was friendly to humans but ruled with ferocity. While number 2 hen she would be mercilessly cruel to Lilly on the roost at night. So much so that my Alpha at the time, Daisy, the greatest hen ever, would grab her comb and hold it to make her stop.

Lilly was a less severe form of Patsy when she took over. Aurora has turned out to be a much kinder alpha than I expected and more like what I think is best for the tribe. I'm pretty pleased with Aurora's behavior since taking over but make no mistake her climb to power was nasty to watch.

Had a scary moment this morning when I went to feed the chickens. I went to get their food bowl for wet food from the coop. I went early this morning for some reason. I walked in the coop and turned on the little lite we put in. The inner wall and door are made or chicken wire, 2x4's and pallet slats. The birds sleep n the 2x4s on the door and some in the window. I heard a chirp and looked up to see 2 birds on the door. One of them had their head stuck through the chicken wire! She was stuck. I panicked and ran and got my husband and the cutters. I carefully put my finger between her and the wire while my hubby cut and i gently got her out. I held her and petted her and hugged her. She was ok and much calmer than me and acted like nothing was wrong. She went right outside and played with her sisters and ate her breakfast like normal. scared me more than her. :th😱
