My youngest took Lacey, their Cornish Rex cat into the garden for outside time while the chooks were free ranging.

Alice had to have a closer look. They actually both reached out and "booped" noses.

The other hens trooped down in a line to check her out too but weren't interested in any "booping"

Wet Hens, Again!

It was such a cold rainy day that everybody spent most of the day inside the run complex. In the end though they had to free range and got soaked again.

I felt so bad I invited them in the house for a snack to dry off.

Corrid Eggs

Not Covid eggs.

Their poos did clear all the way up after worming and I was seeing some nasty stuff so I put the flock on Corrid last weekend. Since I can't get anything tested, I'm guessing a little here. I hope this works.

So that leaves me with Corrid eggs. Nothing to do but feed them back to them. How about a nice dose of hot scrambled eggs before bedtime after a day in the cold rain?

Just tucked my little darlings in. Queen Victoria was in the wrong run, so I had to sort that out for her. There's always a little drama around here. She couldn't get into the coop fast enough, once I had her in the right run. Pippi, the best little cockerel ever, was patiently waiting to escort her in. Mad Hatter was a little disappointed that she didn't want to go into his coop....but, well, she is Pippi's girl.

Oh... I thought that you did... when I was asking about putting my broody in water. Maybe you didn’t say sick but I know that some of you did who answered that post.. and I thought that was odd to refer to a broody as sick...

Ok. I understand the confusion. It is dunking a sick hen in water that can shock and kill them. It has nothing to do with broodiness. The issue for me is that many times they are sick and hide it from us. There is no way I'm going to risk killing one of my hens in that way.

Also, broody hens tend to have deprived themselves. Who knows if they are more susceptible or not. I can't imagine it is really safe to dunk them.
