At least the sign didn't say "testicules de poulette panes'

Trust me, roosters have BIG cajones relative to their size! ( each the size of my thumb!!) It really isn't any wonder they are idiots as teens and overly armorous as adults.

Ratio of their size to body weight is astounding in Roos!!
And with the molting it gets harder to come close to them, I don't know if your chickens also act shy/ unfriendly when they molt ?

I absolutely find this, particularly in their early state of molting/regrowth - I think they are uncomfortable at this time, and being touched can be painful. ?Remember @BY Bob posting how Hattie 'retired' to the smaller coop for a couple weeks early in her moulting? Then, she rejoined the group - even though she wasn't finished, she appeared to me to be beyond that 'don't touch me' stage of feather growth.

Exactly! Those are @Kris5902 , called 'fascinators' Stylish small ladies' wear head gear Just ask @RoyalChick , right?? 😉
Exactly. A good fascinator will set off any outfit a chicken might choose to wear!
:lau

Sadly my remaining Princesses aren't wearing fascinators but I am sure at some future date new, more fashionable ladies will join the Palace and bring some fascinators with them.

Love chicken outfits yes pls!!!

I've done boiling hot water and salt. They love white vinegar so can't use that.

Thanks so much to all who are trying to guide me. 🙏 @RoyalChick

I truly appreciate everyone 💗

My friend is coming to help me with this cooker now.
I was wrong - the fruit flies are not yet done with me even though it is chilly this morning.
I put both my traps in the freezer overnight to kill off the flies prior to dismantling and cleaning out the rotting fruit bait.
But this morning I came into the kitchen to find clouds of them hovering over everything so the traps are now being redeployed.

Maybe some forward leaning ones? Appenzellar Spitzhaben (if I spelled that correctly) have the forward ones

Fruit flies come with any fruit you purchase. You can’t keep them out. It isn’t an issue of cleanliness. Just be diligent about trapping them for a few weeks each summer. I think their season is already passed for this year where I am
They also LOVE kombucha tea. And tomatoes.
