Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday! I hope everyone’s doing well. My girls are out free ranging at the moment as I clean up some more of the brush from the oak trees have been working on. So guess what? Apparently Word on the street is that I am the chicken lady. Today I was able to drain 60 cc of fluid off a very sick hen with aacites. She’s a rescued hen of a friend of a friend. Poor little girl is in bad shape, but I think we did provide a little relief and I’m going to try to help this family make sure she gets more nutrition to build her strength. Long-term prognosis might not be great, but it would be nice if she got to really enjoy life for a while before she goes. Feeling happy to have hopefully provided a tiny bit of comfort to a chicken in need.
That's wonderful - so glad you could help them :hugs

Today wasn't one, lol. Unless you count me telling off the stupid assistant manager. Not that I hold my tongue often but now that I posted my 2 week notice I let my thoughts fly 🤣
hahaha I really hope they were really good thoughts you let fly!

I won't give 2 weeks - I will walk in, plop the company cell down on the desk and tell 'you know who' to have a splendid day, good-bye and walk out :gig

Hide n seek ❤️

The goldenrod here has died off quite a bit.... and its like sticks now - dreadful stuff...

Poor Mr P was so upset he was panting - I don't like stressing them out, so he is going to have to be desensitized to being handled. He won't ever be a pet, but I don't want that - I just want to be able to handle him without him freaking out!
Poor Mr P!
I had to clear a fair bit of Goldenrod to free up the fence. The wooody sticks were relatively easy to snap off. Some still has the last bits of flower and those are really tough to clear. They require loppers.
I am going to keep a bunch of it tall and tie Mylar ribbon to the tops as a hawk deterrent during the winter. I know it isn’t a definitive safety measure but it can’t hurt!

Bless you for your positive thoughts. They kept him sedated until today. They removed his tubes and he is awake and breathing on his own. As he was one of my first bad influences I told my sister that I am having a drink in his honor 🍻
Boby is a great guy and I hold him in high esteem. He'll always be family to me.
How is your friend/ex-brother-in-law doing today? Hoping he is doing well, though I'm sure in pain (even if they keep him very well medicated). :hugs:hugs Here's to a good recovery and a healthy heart in the future.

Looks like your trees are starting to turn a bit. Ours are well on their way here - beautiful but depressing as I know winter is well and truly on the way.

Poor chickies have been going in and out of the barn today, its windy and chilly; poor Dorothy is just hanging out in a nest box - I put the Cozy Coop panel on for her - I'll be glad once her feathers come in fully!
Yeah. Lots on the ground and some trees have already lost all their leaves. The ones in the picture are mainly oak and beech and they tend to hang on to their leaves longer than some others.
The only reason it isn’t depressing is the gorgeous blue sky and not hot or humid.
Love it!
Unfortunately it usually only lasts a week or two like that. Cold and misery coming soon!

Good idea - hope it works well. I will have to do something eventually with the run, but not anytime soon. Likely will finish the run in the spring now.
