Everyone, sorry I've been absent recently. Work got crazy again and I have been falling asleep on the couch while on BY Chickens. Not much time spent with the ladies this past week so not a lot of stories about their shenanigans. I expect next week will be worse. Hopefully I can get some time in with them this weekend.
There is no need to apologize, Bob. We all get busy!

Such an amazing story! I’m so glad you got to witness it first hand. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Nearly done. Not quite done. There is one chick left and Mom is trying to encourage it to leave the garage. Dad tried too. But the chick is way too comfy in the garage with meal service.
The two parents and baby make quite a racket. I feel the parents are yelling ‘get up and get a real job you lazy slob!’ And the baby is mumbling ‘I’ll look after I have had another cheeseburger’.
mom even suspended meal service for several hours during which the baby bleated non stop. And of course she relented and came back with a big bug. So interesting to watch this play out!

Thanks, Bob. I’m wondering if it has something to do with the fact that I catch up on my phone, through my browser. Maybe if I use the app, instead. The app really just appears to be a browser, however. And also posts all my replies at the bottom of the page I’m on. So I do what Lozzy suggested and go back a page or two or three and forward a page and back… It takes forever.
I found most of my problems got solved when I switched to the app.

This is my Heritage Skyline, Charlie, who allegedly could lay blue eggs (but let’s not talk about that )

She has a habit of going broody, in the ‘growling-pancake’ way, rather than a ‘shrieking beach ball’ way. It got so bad this time, we bought a cage of shame and sent her off to broody-jail. She snapped out of it really quickly.

As @Shadrach was saying a while ago, she goes into the full on trance on the nest, we can stroke her, get our hands right under her and she won’t move. Neil picked her up and put her on my lap and she stayed put. She is in no way a lap chicken; if anything she is the flightiest of my flock

Wow, that’s quite a trance! I have never heard of a heritage skyline. Her coloring is very beautiful… Similar to my late brown leghorn.

Here they are all together (it feels like a massive achievement to get all four in one picture, and even more so when they all look up at the same time!)

I’ve been making the most of lockdown and allowing them out to free range each day. Sometimes they only get 20 minutes, other times, hours, if we’re doing garden projects or enjoying the nice weather
Such pretty girls! They look pleased to be out and about!
