Hello FBA I hope you are all doing all right and thinking especially of @RoyalChick today. With all the stress and worry of the last days and the grief coming down now, you must be exhausted. It was indeed a nice surprise to see Dottie and Minnie on the front cover, and appropriate for tuefer Tuesday. My thoughts are with you and Diana and Bernie.

I'm getting back a bit late : we don't own the land. It belongs to my stepfather and his sister. They let us live here for free, but it will never be ours. There is about 8 acres, but a good third is so steep or bushy the only thing you can do is put goats or donkeys. We may have barely been able to get the money to buy something like it, I'm not sure of it's worth, but anyway people here just don't sell land. The cultural reason is that they will keep land and houses in the family, even if it means everything turning to ruins and no one taking care of it. And also, most properties are under the legal status we call "indivision" which means they have not been shared in parts between the heirs, and sometimes this can go back to three or four generations, when people here had ten kids. So you would need to get the approval of hundreds of descendants to sell which is impossible.
Interesting - this indivision. So what if a line dies out? what happens to the lands?

Mr P was like that - finally though looks like they are all grown out. I need to give him another trim though - hope he is a bit more calm this time! I have been handling him a bit more lately.

Though I am a bit worried I will traumatize him again and he won't crow!

Oh hey! He was crowing at the crow I bet (get it??? crow :gig)

Tonight, I flip a coin (I do 2 out of 3, to be sure.
Heads I fly out to Las Vegas, or tails I go see my friend James in Colorado. He owns that horse ranch. Either way, I need to get Chaco canyon out of my head. Actually I do have a relative in Yuma Arizona I could go deliver a surprise Christmas present to.
I don’t know what to do really. :idunno

I should be happy. I did have the lovely Flash purring to me. But I’m not happy at all. Could I have saved Chaco? I know I couldn’t, but I’m hurting inside. 😕
You did what any proper responsible pet owner should and would do. You gave her a good home, and cared for her, and when she was ill your sent her to a Veterinarian. When she was suffering you ensured that she didn't have to endure it.

You did everything perfectly. PERFECTLY. You can and should be sad and miss her, but you should never ever do the 'woulda, coulda, shoulda' thing. All that brings is more misery.

Tell me a funny silly crazy thing that she did? When Truly was a yearling she was running so fast one day she ran past me and made a turn, the ground was very hard and bare dirt, her hooves slipped and she fell flat on her side right in front of me! she went down with a Ooomph! lay there for a second during which I freaked out, the she jumped up leapt into the air kicked out her hind feet almost connecting with me, and took off again!

So did Chaco do silly stuff like that?

TAX OWING (more photos to come!)
