Don't know - it is so hard to find anything for chickens its hard to know! It really is gobsmacking how little there for 'backyard keepers' on poultry!

There is so much out there for horses, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, cats...... but very little on poultry unless you're a huge poultry farm, and then in those cases, there are hardly any issues with worms because the hens are not free ranged, or live long enough if they are meat birds... I find it very sad that our feathered friends are not adequately cared for.

EDIT - by cared for I mean having the same amt of options dogs/cats/horse etc have.

Safeguard is goat dewormer. We can get it easily here in the states. I use it to worm mine when necessary and when they aren't laying eggs.

Thank you! Not polish, she is a Azure Egger (just a fancy EE lol) and they look remarkably like roadrunners. I think the breeding is very similar. Their rather unique mini crest I believe comes from the cream legbar in her mix. I have two of them Snicker and Doodle. They can lay then flat or pull them up like she did in the pic your referencing. Love them!

Those are really cool chickens!

ya..... that article was very illuminating, I knew about rc and her wee precious girl but really didn't read up on it at all. I cried through that whole blog (Oh RC I hope I didn't open fresh wounds - if so I am crying for these hens), I have never heard of that before and thought it was just a rare disease. And now this with Mr P today. I tell you Mr BY_Bob - this having pets is NOT for the faint of heart.

Chickens are harder than most pets. There are more things that kill them and fewer vets that know anything about them.

There are some serious liars in these delivery's companies. I really had to mess my life around today too wait for a very important medical parcel. I received a text telling me I wasn't in, no card was left and I am waiting behind the door

Yeah, I remember that from living in the UK years ago. I was at home waiting for a Tesco delivery. I was in the kitchen and I saw the van pull up. It then drove off and we got a notification that they tried to deliver our groceries but no-one was home!

Thirsty Thursday

Really thirsty!

They had water here in the barn, but I guess it was too much effort for them to come into the barn for a drink, and the weather was too glorious.

Like a good little chicken slave I brought the water to them outside

I think most people use Safeguard for goats on their chickens. I have the dosing written down somewhere if you need it.

Remind me, what kind of hens are Sugar and Flour? They are very cute.

They are Moss Eggers as is Powder who is mostly white with some black spots and they all have feathered legs. They should lay either mossy green eggs or coco brown eggs. They are heavy on the Maran in the mix that was used to create them and will be fairly large hens someday.
