The Deck!

The Rascals finally made it onto the deck today. This is the longest it has ever taken for new pullets to get up onto the deck. They came up with Phyllis. Here they are enjoying some meal worms.

You will note that after having eaten some meal worms Lady Featherington went to the edge of the deck and stood sentinel while the others ate.
That must feel good to see. It seems like your group is becoming a cohesive little flock. I am happy for them and you :) also, I think all your girls are gorgeous but Lady Featherington is just stunning the speckles are really beautiful.

Roosting question

For the last two nights I have been going out at 7pm to shut the pop door now that they can safely be in the run all day. Last night was the first night I saw them all roosted for the night as I went in to do a head count to ensure all was well. I noticed Peanut my Ameraucana with an attitude was all by herself, tonight same thing two groups and her all by herself.

In your guy’s opinion is this flock justice for her being a bit of a bully?
Or do you think its because she looks different with her beard then all the other birds?

I know there is nothing I can do to change the flock dynamics just curious what your guys thoughts are.
I am loath to guess because it would be just that. I've not seen them interact. My advice is to watch roosting time. That will tell you what is going on.

For example, I used to feel bad for Phyllis as she roosted in the Cluckle Hut all alone. That was until I realized that she drove Betty out of the coop. She would not let her roost with her. So Phyllis slept alone. You may have something similar occurring.

I have chickens that roost by themselves, some like to spread out, some like to cuddle (my silkie girls are cuddlers), if she might be Ill she might go off by herself, but then during the day she would be off by herself.
