I wonder if that stuff you spray on horses with permethrin in it would work, not sure the concentration of it and might be too expensive though (anything with the word horse attached to it is automatically twice the cost of cattle stuff! ).
It took me too long to realize that feline pine cat litter is the same thing as pine horse stall pellets which are less than a quarter the price!
Always worth reading labels!

These bangers and fireworks terrified Tina and Princess last night. With no brave flexi and Agatha they must have been out of their minds.
Tina's bottom was awful and too add to her stress I had to give her a bottom wash .

She's not eating her food today and I'm trying to give her fruit but princess is taking everything. Tina laid a soft egg and had a bit of shell hanging out which I removed. I'm really worried about her.

Prinncess tail is growing back that's the only good news I can share on my girls today.
Now it's raining again
So sorry, RC reminds me it was Guy Fawkes day, it’s horrible they don’t put a foot down for fireworks 😢

I am sure they will be ok, my horses and chickens got freaked out also but once daylight comes they fast get over it! Try some tidbits of bread crust, mine love that as a treat!

Tarp is Off

Roof is completely rotted. I'm lucky nothing from the dying tree fell on it.

That sounds like it went really well. I was imagining if I had to do that to Aurora. I may have nightmares about that now. You have such a wonderful relationship with your ladies. I'm glad it went so well.
Maybe you would have to treat it like a bath, with Mrs Bob helping. Bring her somewhere more unfamiliar, so she doesn’t exactly know her escape routes, though because it’s mites I would try to keep her outside. Like on top of a picnic table, with some cardboard walls set up on one side.

Not everyone was so easy - Popcorn, interestingly, was the most nervous. She flapped off my lap, then squatted, then sqwawked as I went and got her, then wanted to only stand on my lap, really stiff legged, for the longest time. She was quite tense. So we worked that way for awhile. She did let me keep her from leaving again, and very slowly relaxed some. I talked softly to all of them also. I believe it helped to have her mates there too, calmly standing around getting their feathers back in order.

I like the pine stuff because it is less environmentally damaging.
I also compost it.
But one of my cats doesn’t like it so I still use a small amount of clay litter.
Also, I raised ferrets for years and they have very delicate respiratory systems not unlike our chickens in this one respect. The hardwood wood pellets they sell for pellet stoves work too ;) also they are way cheaper or they were anyway way back when I kept ferrets. Just make sure they say hardwood to ensure their is no cedar in the mix. Worked for us very well for many years.
