Happy Friday

I checked the Baytril shipping bag and yay it came with a dispenser like the one I have on the left in my supplies!

From my cat (mostly) and chicken supplies. The two on the left are 1ml in total.

Dosage? What does everyone think? I’m finding at least two approaches and I’m inclined to go with casportpony below, but that means twice a day dosing.

Peanut weighed 5 lbs ~3 oz yesterday. So her weight in kilograms would be:

83 ounces / 35.274 oz per kilogram = 2.353 kilograms

All Bird Products suggests
“Total number of birds x Average body weight in kg x 0.1= Total volume (ml) per day”
So it would be 2.353 x 0.1 = 0.2353 mil of Baytril once per day.

I also found this from casportpony in June of this year, for broken egg: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...hicken-with-bloody-vent.1531823/post-25828258

“And the best antibiotic for this (broken egg) is Baytril:
Baytril 10% - All Bird Products
The dose I use is 0.07 ml per pound of body weight twice a day orally”

Which would be 5.1875 pounds (5 pounds and then 16 oz into 3 oz = .1875 pounds) x .07 ml = 0.363125 ml, given twice a day.
This is close to what I PM to you.

Happy Fluffy Butt Friday from my Princesses.
Honestly I cannot tell that Diana is molting apart from the cloud of feathers she leaves behind every time she moves.
It was warm last night so hoping she is OK.

That’s like Blanche, she seems to be just losing small fluffy feathers not to primary big ones!

Happy Veterans Day!🇺🇲

Hoping the rain hold off - this is a military town here so it will be a big thing. Borden is the biggest training centre in Canada and host many countries in training and collaboration.

So today they will have everyone on the big parade square - hope the rain holds off…. Just need to hold off till 11:45 then they should be done.

Armistice Day Grateful Tax
Grateful to those who ensure my freedom to have a wonderful life.

Happy Friday everyone!

Had to stick a gloved hand in Brune's butt this morning 😬. An exceptional soft shell egg from her that wouldn't come out.

Theo's tail and wings are back to their former glory! Just a few days and his mane should be coming in nicely.

Sorry to hear about Brune - but it is hard to give a sad reaction to such lovely pictures.

Yes - I remember having the exact same problem and freaking out. And you know me, I am a researcher so I read pretty much every dosing study on the drug and had an big back and forth with Bob because I was so confused by the label on the bottle.
I am as close to certain as it is possible to be that the roughly 0.1ml per kg repeated morning and evening for 5 days is the correct dose for that 10% solution that you have.
Success! Maybe homemade bread with whole grains in it made the difference? Soaked two small pieces, mushed them each a bit to compact them, and had them on a piece of plastic wrap along with the half calcium pill in front of Peanut in her towel burrito.

I had been giving them each some walnuts from a little plastic bag to lure them into the run and get Peanut alone. Suddenly she picked up the calcium pill herself, beaked it around and dropped it. What a disappointment that must have been! Sorry, Peanut. Then I picked up the bread and offered it and she scarfed both right down. Yummy! At least until

Getting the calcium pill into her was the trial today, she’d decided that’s not food and it took four attempts because it got a bit sticky. But afterward she got three more walnut bits very happily. I opened the burrito and swung around toward the lilac bush where everyone else was and she flew off, landed, paused to ruffle and ran toward them. So I think she’s okay. I’m okay too.
Thanks everyone here too for your support, it means a lot to me!
