Its wet and rainy since yesterday from Nicole. And I go get my Ablation today at 9am. Can't wait. Don't know how the chooks will feel about all this rain. They usually hang out in the run under the camper shell.
My aunt and uncle are in Florida (Tampa area) an they said it was like being in a car wash in their RV.

How do you prepare / protect your chooks from hurricane, and other bad weather were you are? It always interests me how people prepare and protect their animals.

Fluffy Butt Friday

Snapped this cute photo of my niece’s two hens after we treated them with ivermectin. I think they are giving me the stink eye 😊

Mine don’t like heavy wind or rain, they will go outside in the bad weather and if too windy or raining they come back on stand in front of me and BOK BOK BAWK BAWK ! At me 😊 as if I can change the weather!

I checked the Baytril shipping bag and yay it came with a dispenser like the one I have on the left in my supplies!

From my cat (mostly) and chicken supplies. The two on the left are 1ml in total.

Dosage? What does everyone think? I’m finding at least two approaches and I’m inclined to go with casportpony below, but that means twice a day dosing.

Peanut weighed 5 lbs ~3 oz yesterday. So her weight in kilograms would be:

83 ounces / 35.274 oz per kilogram = 2.353 kilograms

All Bird Products suggests
“Total number of birds x Average body weight in kg x 0.1= Total volume (ml) per day”
So it would be 2.353 x 0.1 = 0.2353 mil of Baytril once per day.

I also found this from casportpony in June of this year, for broken egg: https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...hicken-with-bloody-vent.1531823/post-25828258

“And the best antibiotic for this (broken egg) is Baytril:
Baytril 10% - All Bird Products
The dose I use is 0.07 ml per pound of body weight twice a day orally”

Which would be 5.1875 pounds (5 pounds and then 16 oz into 3 oz = .1875 pounds) x .07 ml = 0.363125 ml, given twice a day.

Hold on. I remember having this debate with @BY Bob and realizing there was an error on the Baytril bottle. Let me dig up what I have.
In generat Casportpony is good on dosing so I usually follow her.
Back shortly.
