I know. Now I am all worried about her. She is not eating anything I tempt her with (butternut squash, shrimp, tuna) but she is actively foraging. I just hope there is enough to find.
Still another couple of warm days but then we are going well below freezing.
How long does it take to regrow feathers?
Too long. Aurora is a wreck and she is not going to make it. 😕

How long does it take to regrow feathers?
You know the snowy cold we've been getting. Last couple of days have been clear and cold, warming up to @29F. I've opened the coop so they can go out of they choose. NONE have gone outside. Those growing feathers are staying pretty still. Thing had hunkered into the shavings in one of the boxes. She and Pear have been tailless. Pear had been venturing forth (before the snow), but I haven't caught her on the ground in the last couple. Sometimes Thing is in the box directly above the heat, sometimes down at the other end. Those moulting hard are enforcing a larger personal bubble inspite of the cold. I would set up a heat source so she can go warm up, keep food handy and add on rotation a variety of "treats" (nutritional food suppliments covering a wide spectrum of vit/minerals). If she has a warmer location, she will use it if she needs it. As for foods, keep rotating, make note of what she will eat (keep the list for next year, cross ref nutrients). :hugs

Silver thimbles on his spurs?? Is that like the brass tips they put on Oxen's horns? Here they have these awesome oxen that are used for hauling stuff. They are treated like princes - their cloven hooves are shod like horses and their beautiful horns have brass tips :)

So I am wondering if the silver thimbles are like those on the oxen? got a photo of this? How do they stay on?
I custom formed them, and used superglue
