It might seem that way, and it could be, but I’m not sure it hurts…certainly she does not want the slightest touch from anyone else. From what I can see, mostly it appears she’s cold. She stands and shivers and then goes and stands very close to the warming panel. Sometimes she really presses her chest against it for a minute or so. She is sooo bare in places!

Wrap her up in a heating pad maybe? I used to have to do that with my beautiful Rocks-Ann RIP my lady.

In town, Jaffar is known by my military USMC friends as a warrant officer this week, he’s supposed to be upgraded to chief warrant officer honorary US Marine .
He is loved by so many people in town. He gets a medal and a small party. I’m not kidding about that. He’s such a good rooster!

Actually it’s a play to see all the friends I have left. And they want to see me again too. But Jaffar is the main attraction, (because he’s such a good rooster)
I should have done this for BEN and BLU

Hattie Roosted!

Here is tonight's final roosting in the Main Coop.

Hattie has finally roosted. I put new straw and ceramic eggs in the nest boxes and no one wanted to sleep in them. I guess I had that backwards.

Here is 7 minutes of roosting from tonight. It's not the full thing but you can see how everyone wins up where they are in the photo. Aurora just had to peck Hattie before bed. So intimidating.

Aurora’s neck and body looked a little to me like she is molting, I can’t remember, is she, or on the tail end of it?

I kind of like this idea.

Aurora has many areas of accomplishment including Detective and is now Queen. She’s been second or third (?) in command for a long time and even had battle experience, so she could answer questions on how to thrive in a tribe.

Well she goes right for the heating pad in the coop when they roost. It’s got cloth and then some chopped hemp on it. She is first up to roost and snuggles down into it. She could go back in there during the day to rest but I guess prefers to go to the heater panel in the run and make forays from there.

Dear Aurora,
I am the ruler of my little tribe but Bernadette keeps taking my roosting spot. I peck her on the head but she ignores me. She jumps on top of me and she is very big. She has no manners.
What can I do?
