It's a foldable doggie pool/bath, and they make bigger sizes

It's worked really well. It's very tough material on the bottom and survives chicken scratching, and even me carefully dragging it around. I lift one edge and spin it to drag.

The Small is a good chicken height and manageable for me. The top edges are soft, covering something stiff in there, it's like a half inch of material on top. So the chickens often just step on the edge to get in, or even stand on the edge, poking around in the bath mix. When they were small I put a quarter log outside and in for a step up. They used it but also soon hop-jumped up and over so the log made a short appearance. They will bathe in it, but they now prefer the actual dirt ground holes they make in the aviary yard in summer, partly because I don't have it deep enough in there I think. But also they each had a special hole they liked.

The last time I saw them bathing in the big run it was in a sunny patch in the litter. Sometimes I see them doing both - one or two in the pool, one or two out next to it. They do like to peck and scratch in it for variety from the litter though, and pick up tiny pebbles, and I throw clods of dirt and grass in there.

(Their baths always start around 11-11:30am here, an interesting fact I noticed this year. Does anyone else notice their routine like that? Is it due to our latitude here, where the sun is in the morning, or is it due to their morning schedule - the time elapsed - since waking up?)

The Small will fit all four Buckeyes in it bathing, but usually only two or three get in there now, they tend to object and squabble when more try to join.
I find my gang spend a huge amt of time preening and dust bathing in the morning, then in the afternoon they spend time scratching around…

Well I am beginning to get not too happy. The leghorns were supposed to be here at 10 am. I admit I was a little wary that delivery was on Christmas eve but they insisted they had to travel through Pikeville today anyway on their way for another delivery. No chickens and it is almost 1. I tried to contact them a hour ago and found I've been blocked on messenger. I feel I've been scammed and thankfully only lost my deposit and not the full price. If they do not show up today which I am now very much doubting I will just have to stalk Rural King and TSC for leghorn chicks.
Oh that is really too bad. So sorry. People can be really awful.

Now put a chicken under the tree. Grandma can sit still under the tree but I don't know if your chickens can.
I am sure it would be mayhem if I brought one of the chickies in here hahaha! I can see it now - a panicked chicken flying around the house!

Here they are under the Spruce tree outside 😊

My friend made the card above, it took him days.

He was the first person to actually touch my cat, he managed this months before the cat moved in...No else but myself can get near him, except for my friend. This cat snuggled into his lap for an hour the other day.. even though my friend can only visit a few times a year this cat knows him right away.

My dog protested because he thinks my old mate comes here to see him so there was a big time affection battle going on but catkins got his fair share.

The card was made with the cat in mind my friend has a huge amount of love for him ❤
That’s so wonderful that your friend also is friends with your pets - it really speaks to your friend being a great friend to all of you. 🥰

I researched the Mama Heating Pad idea because it seemed nice to do and was more affordable to me at the time to make one than a broody plate. Good advice on it on BYC, need to have different heat settings, for one, and this particular model had a very good safety rating. I have taken off the outer cover and wrapped it with towels and old pillow cases. There is probably updated current advice on what to get. I have had it on Low but put it up to Medium last night when I went out to investigate the autodoor and close the manual door.

In May 2020 I paid $19.99 for it. As @Ponypoor would say: Holy Dinah it's $51.92 at Walmart right now. That's scandalous.
Sunbeam King-Size Moist/Dry Heating Pad with UltraHeat Technology and 3 Heat Settings (732-500)
That’s just nuts! Holy jumping jelly beans! That’s like a 60percent increase in price!

Shaking my head here at that! How can anyone afford anything?!
