I also read some were sad I had her pulled off the hill before she finished hatching. It really was in her best interest. I do not think she had came off the nest in 3 days and she was starving when I got her settled. She inhaled a whole can of wet cat food plus a handful of chicken feed. Here I can safely monitor the rest of the eggs progress and if I sense a chick is in trouble assist hatching if I need to. Plus now I do not worry about a predator finding that nest or any falling off into the creek on their way down. I was a nervous wreck yesterday before we got them. Those chicks are talkative. They announced to the world they were there.
Has Branch started hovering as close as she will let him?

Oh-oh. Where will the others lay? Sounds like this will create MORE secret nests - out of necessity! 🤨 Yikes! :hmm That means more of these: :jumpy:jumpy
Nope, I put her in the nest that was not currently in use. I did have to temporarily block her, but one of the Queens who is laying in the other porch box already braved Momma's shrieks and laid her egg and left. There was no lingering in the box after it was laid though, she laid her egg and scooted out of there super fast.

Status report: rainy, chooks will stay in the coop (dry in there).
I will be going out in the rain, to church in town.
Will update when I return.
I already fed them and did my morning greeting for them. Seems all is well. :thumbsup
Back home now. I’m playing in my Rock garden.
:thumbsup :love

Oreo update, all his tips look to be recovering nicely. The pullets bite injury is healing well and quickly.

Now did he learn anything at all from said injury, I think maybe so. I was watching his attempts at mounting various pullets this morning and he looked at Peanut Butter with interest. She turned and glared at him and he did decided to walk away VERY quickly to save himself some of his dignity.
