The first pic, that dark triangle / three-armed shape on her swollen wattle, what's going on there? Is that a wound and a bit of blood, or dirt? Sorry for you and her! Have you posted on the illnesses / injuries thread?

I also think it is her earlobe, not her wattle...??? I hope she doesn't have an ear infection??

I figured out what Henny Penny reminds me of - a Ptarmigan - they have the same feathered feet, and the round portly body that Henny has

They are a terror on the roads because they just sit there and don't fly away when you drive up, and they are white and you can't see them until you run over them! (No I didn't run any down today!). Their whole predator avoidance is to sit still and blend in, which works really well with Lynx - not so much with Pickup Trucks!

Today though it was the Grouse that were causing me some headaches, they do the same thing - just sit on the road - I was dodging them going to town this morning. Silly birds! They also remind me of Henny Penny.
