Makes it 12? I think....
First hen of each breed doesn't count, only the chicks hatched from them, and if they are all from different Sires then all different breeds thus could postulate that they are indeed 'first hens' for that breed....
:th

I think she has 1....

Oh just thought of something - if my Silkies are the first hens of the breed they wouldn't count... half or not!

She has 2 roos counting. I guess that means 3 chickens total?

Lets see:
one Rooster
FBCM - Brownie
Azure- Snicker and Doodle
Moss- Flour, Sugar, Powder
Wellsummer- Ginger
Wellsummer or Sage (still unsure)- Cinnamon
Amerucana - Peanut Butter
Silverudds Blue - Biscotti

Therefore only 8 chickens actually exist, I think 🤔 Math isn’t my strong suit.

So you need more! 1 can't be all alone! they will pine for company! If you got Silkies then you can get double your fun!

Hmmmm - logic dictates that if they are different breeds then yes. I guess whether she counts the Silkie as one or not she would have to round up anyways - so sure we can go with 3....

She needs more. I suggest more Sillkies - that way she can get double the pleasure!

What's up tonight?

Looks like no one other than Queen Penelope is roosting on the nest boxes.

And what's with Misty roosting with Buttercup!??

Henny Penny is once again on the shelf/ledge - she knows a good location when she finds one!

Butterball Henny
I figured out what Henny Penny reminds me of - a Ptarmigan - they have the same feathered feet, and the round portly body that Henny has :)

They are a terror on the roads because they just sit there and don't fly away when you drive up, and they are white and you can't see them until you run over them! (No I didn't run any down today!). Their whole predator avoidance is to sit still and blend in, which works really well with Lynx - not so much with Pickup Trucks!

Today though it was the Grouse that were causing me some headaches, they do the same thing - just sit on the road - I was dodging them going to town this morning. Silly birds! They also remind me of Henny Penny.

We have:
Marans- Bubba, Holly, Lilly, Baby, Corona
Silkies- Branch and Chiquita
Cochins- Flurry and Gryffyn
Buff Orps-Butter, Siracha, Nellie and Wasabi
Queens-Berthie and Lassie
crosses- Squirrel, Raven, Blueberry, Twig, Goose, Karen
game hen-Momma Hen
Chicks- Kit, kat, Ducky plus momma's 4 new ones and 9 of the ones hatched in october.

ok earlier count was wrong, 38 total not 42. I even went out and did a head count just to make sure. No I do not have too many chickens.
I love it! :love
