Very nice tribute. I’m sure that Mal, and my Canna, are together somewhere, just chatting away! :hugs

It is. I had been on a pump previously for 10 years before it malfunctioned. I like the pump, but, with my medtronic one again there is only so many places I could insert the catheter. Me and my Dr noticed in the last year before it malfunctioned that I was needing more insulin then normal to keep my numbers under control. It was determined that over the years I had built up scar tissue in the insertion sites and the insulin was not absorbing properly. So when it quit a little over a year and a half ago it was suggested to go off the pump and back on shots for a time being. If I did not use those sites the absorption issues can resolve themselves. I have been off the pump long enough that she wants me back on it. It is a new system that is wireless unlike the medtronic one. It can also be inserted in my upper arm or thigh instead of only my stomach area. Hopefully this helps even out my numbers. They have went stupid since my surgery. I was warned this would happen and can take up to 6 months to level off again as hormones also play a role in a type 1 blood sugar levels. The sensor takes 2 hours to come online after insertion. It just came on about 10 minutes ago. First reading was a dangerous low alert of 52. Double checked it with my meter, it read 55 so the system does work. And of course since I do not react normally to low blood sugars, I felt perfectly fine.
My cousin used the same sites all the time and the scar tissue built up, she had to have surgery to fix the scars.

And she had to find new locations to use for her insulin.

Such a love.

It actually works really well. It telescopes down small enough to store conveniently and it adds almost 2’ of reach.
The egg fits nicely in the hand though you do have to focus not to tip it off.
Before getting this I used an empty cat food can nailed to a wood broom handle.
That worked just fine but was awkward to store.

I have these, I got them at Tractor Supply.

Little Giants - 16.5 in. long by 15.88 in. wide by 19.75 in. high. The opening is 7x7. I just came back inside from sitting out in the coop after putting peanuts in them. They still wouldn't go in them and they adore peanuts. I even moved one to where they were laying and put down even lower then this one is. All they did was move to the even harder to get to spot in the other corner.

I was watching Oreo he seems to indicating to them to lay at least by the nest boxes picking up straw and chips for them in that area but they are not listening.

They just do not feel comfortable going in those boxes 🤷‍♀️ I will have to find different ones I imagine deep sigh 😔
They are bigger than mine but look so much smaller. Next time I go to TSC I'm going to try and look at those.

It was an emergency situation - during construction of the Chicken Palace Diana and Elizabeth got up between the floor joists of the servants quarters and were laying there. But the floor was already on so we needed to scoop them out from the end. The cat food can on broom stick model was perfect for the job!
