I would like have a conniption fit with all my silkies up high hahahah!

Seriously though - that is what I am thinking. Oh they love roosting in the window at night, it's annoying as they poop on the window ledge and I have to clean it - ewww! Not bad with the regular doodoo - but those cecal poops

I am going to put a droppings board in the window frame made of plastic so it's easy to clean haha! I have even had the girls that are good flyers go up into the smaller window I have. I will need to fix that one also.

I am planning on re-doing the nest boxes when I get home and putting in a ledge, rather than a roost, with steps up to it. That should make them all happy and hopefully they wont try to cram into one location.

Uh - no - all pullets

The Bielefender and Welbar are apparently auto-sexing, not sure about the Brabanter but they offered pullets - so I picked 5 pullets (wouldn't let me choose just 2). I think the Brabanter is not a heavy layer - more a run-way-model type chickie

Hmmm I stand corrected - Brabanter hens lay 200 white eggs a yr... who knew.

Anywhooo we shall see what happens. Still a long way to go till I go home!

After tonight's drama in the Hen House with Dorothy causing trouble flitting about pushing people off the roost, then poor Blanche got knocked down onto Marty, and they all fell to the floor in the hen house, Marty pretty much smacked into the sliding door - not to worry it has some give (sheesh!).

Crazy hens - and Mr P all he wanted to do was hide away from it all! Typical male!

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I knew once I started doing this there would be no going back. So I am now diving in and I hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride.

First of all let me tell you how we view our flock as that will help you to understand why we treat them like we do.

Our birds are our pets and we treat them as such. We do not care if someone is not laying eggs. They are welcome to stay at Fluffy Butt Acres until they pass naturally. (Now don't go telling them that! I would hate for word to get out) We do thoroughly enjoy the fresh eggs.

I plan to tell stories from the past as well as from today. I hope you all enjoy and will share stories of your flocks as well.
