Yep, the ones that have been laying the longest though are using the nest boxes so at least there is that. Maybe the rest will come to the same conclusion soon? 🤷‍♀
I am hoping for you!!! Right now my gals are fighting over one nest box in the Hen House - the Silkies are laying in the bottom boxes which is fine by me!

In the past though I have had some interesting places they have laid eggs hahaha - entertaining really. But I am worried when I get home I will find a cache of eggs somewhere my mum hasn't seen :)

Work has a remodel scheduled on the the building. Was originally supposed to start in January. What idiot wants to build with concrete in January in these latitudes?! It got rescheduled for March. Repeat the question and see comment replied to. We CAN see snow any month of the year (unusual June-August). Doesn't usually happen all in the same year, but 2018 had snow flying somewhere in the state EVERY month of the year.

Oi boy - ya concrete is hard to cure in cold temps - here outdoor concrete work is done in the summer only. Indoor concrete is done only in places they can keep the temperatures constant at say 50F or more.

Of course we do stress testing on concrete here, so there are all these small cups filled with solid concrete stacked around hahahaha :)

I will have to charge the camera for a bit for this afternoon. I am back on the Marshmallow's good side. Food like always is the way to these chicks heart. They turned their beaks up to raisins, spoiled brats. They will go nuts over wild bird seed. Put a little bit in your hand and you have all six scrambling to get into your hand. I've had them for 2 weeks today and I am confident Rural King sold us all pullets. They have zero comb development. For a breed that should have combs larger then any of my other birds I am shocked. I was expecting even the pullets to start growing their combs early. They are also trouble makers when they are let loose. The biggest one yesterday went up to karen and tried to grab onto her wattles. Karen tried to peck it which lead to Chiquita charging and a hen fight ensuing. The little brat afterward went after one of the queens with Chiquita in hot pursuit. I would expect this shocking behavior out of Momma Hen's brood, not the innocent little leghorns.

And that right there, the hidden cache of eggs is how you are going to come home to Mr. P x Marty babies.

Besides the girls that think it is funny to lay on the top of the hay pile I have 7 other girls back to laying. 5 of them are fighting over the porch box. Goose is one of them. Yesterday the wait was so long for a box that Goose could not hold her egg in any longer so had to go to plan b. Where was plan b's location? On top of the uncovered sawdust pile is where I found yesterdays little Goose egg. I should point out that out of all the commotion and drama of fighting over the porch box the one beside it was empty and free for all of them to use. Nope, they chose to stand around screaming at the hen in the box.
