You would be able to see a prolapsed vent if you can see her backside.Oh no! That is awful.
Now I am scared for Babs. She wouldn’t be running around all fit and happy if her vent prolapsed would she?
Remember I still can’t catch her to examine her so I would have to look from a short distance.
I rarely get double yolkers from newbies, but in my older hens (like, after their molt @ 18 mos, when they come back online) I have almost always had a few that laid double yolkers. Some 'straighten out' when the spring flush of eggs come...others lay every other egg double yolk, and a few lay most every egg as a double yolker.
Surprisingly enough, I have only once had a prolapsed vent from a double yolk laying hen. The couple others that had prolapse...it was a one time thing, fix it and it was better - all except one, who I processed that following fall because it was a recurring issue.
