Sounds wonderful.
I was thinking of a similar timing to try and add some chicks.
Maybe a bit later - I have to sort out travel plans so I don’t have to leave on any trips while they are small.
Yes that is my thoughts also - I figure I will be home in April anyways likely due to Spring breakup here in the North.

Now if my Silkies and other gals behave and go broody I will be all set :)

I figure I need 3 broodies and divide the between them all, and if lucky enough to get a couple of Welbar/Legbar/Brabanters... :)

Well, they just laid next to the brick this morning.:idunno BUT they had scratched the golf ball out from the space I curtained off under the nest box...which is more interest than they've ever shown before. I'll take that as a good sign. Decided to move two of their real eggs into that nest area, replacing the golf ball too, and at least Sheba saw me do it. We get 2-3 eggs a day from these three girls for the two of us, so that's way more than we need. :fl
Oh don't worry - chicken math is actually a real affliction - I had 3 silkies... as pets. That's how it starts. Now I have 13, and a few more to arrive in a couple months. haha!

Well I did build a coop big enough for 12 (7x7) 49 sq feet! But I think 4 chickens -3 hens - will do for now. (My rooster, Manny, was supposed to be a hen.)

They were Eenie, Meanie, Miney (now Manny) and Sheba...because I didn't want no Moe. ;)

Rosie was happy to show off her fluff yesterday.

hahahaha wishful thinking but unless they are ok overnight for 10 hrs being cold don't think it's going to happen! Can you imagine my mum counting only 12 chickens she would have a conniption fit! That bird would be found!!!

OK for the enablers here this is the news:

Due to the fact that everywhere I was trying to check on getting chicks, was telling me they were 'sold out' - I went ahead and ordered from Performance Poultry back home. I was not able to get any Welbar nor Brabants. But I was able to get Bielefelder (5 pullets), and Dark Brahmas (5 pullets).

So on April 13/14 I will have 10 chicks to look forward to. The hatchery also told me that it was possible I could also get my hands on any extras hatched so maybe I might get some Welbars and Brabants or even Legbars :)
Oh I am excited for the pictures already!! April isn't far away ❤️
