I’ve heard Brahmas are steady winter layers, but that is not so with my Buttercup. I actually don’t think she lays at all anymore.

That brings me to another question/thought. Some of my older gals don’t lay, but will still get their red, fleshy combs, talk a lot, and squat for me, same as the laying girls. They seem healthy like there’s no internal laying going on, but I dunno.

Thoughts?

Penelope will be 7 now and maybe lays once a week or so. But Mr P and she are happy to 'have a good time' - next to Marty, she is Mr P's next favourite hen

Has nothing to do with light but the warmth of their coop which I kept heated. If you want eggs heat the coop.
