Oh I was so close to getting light brahmas - but those dark one (sigh) lovely! And close to a barred patter (shhhh don't let RM hear me saying that - I was told it is 'penciling' - but I was so 'drawn' to them )

Good lord, I have missed a ton! I've been so busy with school and work at home, that I completely abandoned y'all again. Sorry! My RIR hen, BBQ, has Bumblefoot again, so I am giving her foot a soak. I just thought about you guys and decided to hang out for a little! I got a new hen, Willow. She is a golden laced wyandotte, mixed with some darker breed I think. She is still a pullet, but I think that she will start laying soon. I have BBQ in a dog crate on my porch, so I am hoping that when I put BBQ out with the others, that Willow will have taken her spot. BBQ can work her way back up, but Willow just isn't part of the flock yet. I got her last Tuesday! I will post some pictures of everyone soon... will someone give me the links to Ask Aroura if there have been any lately? All my birds say "Hello, everyone!!"

Well hello PtR - glad to hear all is good, and look forward to pics of your newest addition

How is the new pony doing? (did you know my poor old girl Sally passed? she would have been 23 this April 5th).

Did you know Rebecca's mum brought home 6 baby chicks and gave them to her Silkie to raise - they are just adorable!

I think my ear infection is finally starting to get better. Ive been hot and chilled with low grade fever. I take the antibiotics like clockwork so I can keep them in my system. My hubby just finished the expansion on the chicken coop. It is much bigger and more room for everyone.

Well hopefully you are on the upward swing to feeling better, I am sure we will all look forward to seeing the new expansion! Sounds wonderful!

Success! Kind of. Where there was a golf ball and two eggs, there is a golf ball and three eggs! I left them all for now, but may gather 1 or 2 tonight, and mark what I leave with a sharpie so I know what's old. Only problem is...I'm 90% sure there was a brown egg in that nest and now they're all gray. I guess I could be wrong.

Of course, whoever is laying the brown eggs is being stubborn. But it's a start!

I don't remember any double yolkers in all the years we have chickens and that includes 4 leghorns.

I have had a couple - and all from my Silkies!
