And more prairie chickies - this one was all on her lonesome!

No ponies, but look what I found in the nest box! Well, under...but I made a nest area there, so good enough! I don't know whether it was the golf balls or moving their eggs and leaving them, but we finally have success! View attachment 3402861
Beautiful! and lovely colours also :)

I have gals that like to nest on the 'ground floor' nest boxes (mostly the Silkies) to lay their eggs, I am good with it, but I don't let them roost on those nests anymore since I found out that Rats could get into my hen house...

Oh dear. This little fella was right next to the house this morning. It looks like a bad case of mange.
The two older and much bigger foxes look like they are much healthier.
Does anyone know if the mites that cause mange in foxes are an issue for chickens? Cats?
I will research and call a friend of mine who is a retired vet but I thought someone here might just know!

Poor wee fella - sarcoptic mange (not mango) is specific to each species as far as I know. Is there anyway that 'wildlife management' out your way can capture and euthanize her? It's a horrible way to die :(
I don't make a good 'let nature take it's course' sort of person. As a human I feel it is in my ability to ensure that poor animals are not suffering - if they can be cured, I cure them, if not then I help them on their way.

Sorry Sad Tax

This morning I caught Henny Penny grooming herself - she is preening her chest feathers - she is quite athletic!

Okay... I don't think that you guys are ready for this pony spam of pictures!! This handsome bay is Dash. Before my instructor bought him, he was badly abused. Before my instructor moved to this new barn, you could hardly touch him without him freaking out. Now, you can hug on him, and if he is feeling good, even a kiss on his velvet soft nose. My instructor ( I will call her K so that way I don't just say 'my instructor") bought him for $400. That is the price of a saddle. Now he has a Mustang buddy, Forest.View attachment 3402916
I love a nice bay :)

Up next we have the boy I ride, Lenny. He is a 6 year old Welsh pony. He is about 13.1 hands. He was very frisky today. He did not stand still for a moment!

I like the frisky ones - they have attitude :)

Looks like Prince is a buckskin - I had a buckskin Quarter Horse - LOOOOONG ago :)

They are just lovely - thanks for sharing, I miss seeing my gals, so it's nice to see other's ponies and horses ❤️

I am proud of myself. It is almost the middle of February. My incubator has sat empty in the closet to this point. It is also not from the lack of eggs either. While playing cards last night when asked how many eggs I had I casually made the comment that I had almost 6 dozen. I then followed it up by saying that the oldest eggs were 5 days old, stored properly and rotated. If I wanted I could fill up every hole in my egg turner and still have eggs left to sell. Thanks to Momma Hens hooligans and the Marshmallows I did not have that instant urge to run and fill it up.
I should send you a bunch of Marty's eggs :)

Nice self control!! If I had a choice of when I can incubate eggs and how many chickens I can have, my incubator would be full, and I would have over a hundred chickens... 🙄 thank gosh my parents won't let me!!
Umm yes! Thankfully they set boundaries hahaha :)

You can live vicariously through others like I do - I love seeing their babies, and I don't have the stress of worrying too much about them ❤️
