Ya… that cache of 75 semi rotten eggs

That may not be so untrue! I just found a stash of a dozen eggs. And this from hens that only get to free range on the weekends and 3:30 pm till dark on weekdays

Those dirty little buggers!

Look at those tiny little wing feathers coming in! They will be flying in short order! Another few days and they will start with 'fly-hops', then next thing you know they will be flying short distances and short heights.....then the trouble begins!

I put shaving in the run. The chickens love it. Hades is getting bolder and is coming up to me and gently pecking me. I think after his hormones calm down he is gonna be a really good pet. I found an egg in the mud from an Ancona! It was just lying there waiting for someone to step on it. The younger girls are smart and staying in the run. They only come out for a few minutes and walk the run after all the other chickens have gone in. Then they have the run to themselves. I got some great pics to upload now.

I went out with the camera for a few minutes.
First off we have Momma Hen relaxing with 3 of her 4. The other one prefers to sunbath alone.

Honestly I don’t know how she does it. That ceramic egg is not just tossed aside it has been moved two doors along. Can hens pick up eggs and carry them?

Supposedly they can carry eggs. I'm not sure I believe it though. It is a white egg and if it was Phyllis's egg I can see it getting tossed out.

Another perplexing question is how did the third best box become the new favorite.

I'm blaming this lady as she was the only one laying for a while and preferred the third box. There is also a lot of sleeping in the other 2 nest boxes so they are getting quite messy.
