I Think Something May be Happening
Sydney seems agitated. She is talking a lot. I am recording as I type.
Excellent point ACM!Chicken time is never a waste!
Besides, you are not wasting time any way. You are socialising them!![]()
He's back inside now with me, watching me type this. I'm giving the ladies a break from him for a while.Update: Jaffar, the house rooster crowed again at 5:15 am right on time, and right in my ear!
I found, that if I snuggle with him, he will lay his beak on my arm, and not crow for about an hour. But after that, he wants to go to the barn/coop to see the ladies. So be it!![]()
I do believe that is a chick I hear! It’s a little hard to tell with the background noise, and remember you can hear eggs chirp too! So she might not be out yetDay 1: Is That a Chick?
Everyone knows this is my first time with a broody hen trying to hatch eggs. I really don't know what to a expect.
I mentioned earlier that I took a photo of the eggs while Sydney was off and before Sana got on them. I also listened but did not hear anything.
Well I figured the phone has better hearing than me. So I set it to record video, laid the phone in the box by the eggs, and recorded a minute of video. The following black video is what i got. Listen closely because i need your expert opinions. Is that a cheep I am hearing?
You will hear the whine of the pool pump (the motor is on its last legs), the clucking of all the big hens who came running to see if I had food, and then something else which sounds like a cheep to me. What do you all think? Its pretty faint and took me a while to recognize it.
Can you give us a time stamp in the video when you think you hear it? I picked up on a couple of very high pitched, faint blasts of 'cheeeeeep'. I've no idea what I'm really listening for though.Day 1: Is That a Chick?
