Brahma pullet update:
The three little ladies should be here tomorrow! A courier service is bringing them directly from the farm to my home. Good thing we set up the tent already. I had no idea this was an option but since its three hours away it ended up being cheaper then shipping chicks :)
As far as bio security goes, the farm is NPIP certified which helps me with my confidence in their practices. I will do the best I can. Their quarantine area is in our attached garage which helps as we can run inside to change wash ect. And it is also about 3/4 of an acre away from the “OG’s”.
BY Bob, RC, and BigMath (kind generous souls that they all are) are all helping me navigate swabbing and testing what is reasonable to test for so the period can be a tad shorter if the test negative for everything.
Idk if I can manage perfect bio security but I hope to do better then trying nothing to keep my OG’s safe.
The three 12 week old pullets will have a 7x7 tent and a dog playpen to get outside in and add to the tent if needed.
Plus, with only three I would bet some money they will spend some enrichment time inside getting snuggles 🥰

Peep may be a perfect candidate for a face mask diaper. I hate wearing the things but still have to wear them anytime you go to the doctor offices. I tend to throw them away the second I leave, but now I will not. Branch also has been regularly brought in since he was a few months old. I will normally put a towel on the bed when we watch tv. I have never tested him longer then 2 hours. He never leaves his towel, and only once has he pooped on it. Today with his diaper there was no towel. He got to explore the kitchen and then explored my bed for a little bit before deciding towel or no towel he needed a nap on his pillow. He let me know when he was ready to go back outside by standing up and crowing. If he crows on the bed that is my signal he is ready to head back out to the flock.
I would love to see a photo of how you used it - I might want to bring Fluffy and Curly to the house one day :)

Oh that's wonderful! I can't wait to see them :)

Of course I expect lots of photos!

For a time this afternoon it was just me, my rooster and "Evil Lives Here".

Yes he is sleeping on a pillow. Doesn't every good boy deserve to have a pillow to sleep on.

waiting on me to get the tv off the news and onto our favorite show.

I've saw this on facebook. People using disposable masks to make chicken diapers. Branch was my guinea pig. It fits him, it will not work for my larger girls.

Hmmm ok so are the ear pieces around his wings then? I will try it on my girls when I get home hahaha. If you had a black mask you wouldn't even see it on him!

I am still away and it is a bit hard to understand what the lady looking after them is saying, and there is a time zone difference, so when she says today, is that actually yesterday?
I think she has laid 4 eggs in 6 days. But it might be 5.
I am keen to see them in person to get to know their color.
:idunno
Oh wow that's great! I can't wait till you get home also - I bet you're so eggcited ❤️

Mum said she got 7 eggs today - I am eager to see who all is laying eggs right now. I see all the gals going into the nest boxes from time to time during the day, but can't really see eggs or colour. And when I ask my mum 'how many pink eggs?' or 'are there any blue eggs' she says 'they are eggs that's all I know'... hahaha.

When my cousin picks up the eggs this week I will ask her to give me an account of how many pink, blue, green and olive eggs :)

I was going to say that! What type of chicken has that floppy comb?
Parm and Moxie (Nicknames for Parmesan and Mozzarella) are Leghorns. I don't know how Mozzarella got that floppy comb when her sister's is just a small flap at the end.
Here you are!! (There are four, barely taller then a quarter!) View attachment 3411919View attachment 3411920
@Ponypoor , you asked if i had any other chickens besides Japanese bantams, i have a black sex link and a Easter egger cross as of now
The mama hen reminds me of someone...
Squirrely
On a scale of 1-10, how annoying is Squirrely's scream? I have shown this video before but didn't think to ask this question.
