Parm and Moxie (Nicknames for Parmesan and Mozzarella) are Leghorns. I don't know how Mozzarella got that floppy comb when her sister's is just a small flap at the end.

The mama hen reminds me of someone...
Squirrely
On a scale of 1-10, how annoying is Squirrely's scream. I have shown this video before but didn't think to ask this question.
"Have the Lambs stopped screaming Clarice"

Why wait till Friday 💕 ❤️ If you started today - they will be that much close to hatching! Just saying!
Because, I do not want 2 broody girls. I actually prefer Goose did the hatching. With me leaving her nest alone, if Goose is really thinking about going broody this will trigger it. If I was doing this for Momma Hen, Holly, Raven or even Bunny, they would already be incubating.

If I have to go with Plan Bunny, this will be her 5th brood and she is only 2 1/2 years old. If someone ever came up and told me Marans are not broody or good mother's I think I would die laughing.
Can you have one of your girls discuss this aspect of chickenhood with Brownie for me? She still insists that laying her eggs in the smack dab middle of the RUN on the ground is obviously the best possible spot to lay. I have my doubts on good mama instincts with that sweet girl. :lau

Right now im binge watching True Blood on HBO. Ive seen it before but its been a long time.

I’m so sorry, poor girl. You did all you could. :hugs

I'm so sorry. Pass peacefully Lucky. All my flock knew when Daisy was in her final hours and sat with her as well until after she passed. If you can not be with her the next best thing is to pass in the company of her flock mates.

Oh I am so sorry to hear this. So glad Little Mill is sitting with her, hopefully she passes quietly 😞

I'm so sorry, Michelle. :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs :hugs

I'm glad that Little Mil was keeping her company - she deserved having a friend nearby!🥰

I am always amazed at how ?intuitive? animals are. They often know before we do that they are passing/their friend/flock-mate is passing.

More hugs for you, and wishes for Lucky that it is a relatively easy passing.:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs:hit:hit:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs

Im so sorry to hear this. Glad she is not alone.

Thanks, everyone. Lucky is still with us (barely). There is a storm coming, so I just spent the last hour putting the tarps back up so it’s not so windy in the run. Despite these efforts, sometimes the wind will flap the overhead tarp and they’ll all run into the coop. I put Lucky in the coop to get her out of the wind, and she has friends around her. Honestly, I don’t think she’ll move from that spot on the floor unless I move her. I think what I’ll do, is after all the others go to bed, I’ll move her up onto a shelf with a heater where she can’t get pooped on. That way she’ll be closer to her friends instead of on the floor by herself. I doubt she’ll make it through the night.

If I haven’t mentioned it lately, he is! He really is, such a good rooster! Out there digging and scratching with his ladies, but taking time out to come over and see me! He doesn’t mind being picked up anymore, because he’s so used to it!
He really is a great emotional support rooster! :old :love
I actually got to snuggle Cheetah today. Came home in blizzard. Snowing powder, visibility 1/2 mile plus or minus a bit. Was 38F when I left for work, down to 14 when I got home and wind blowing sideways. Everyone in coop except Cuckoo and Cheetah. Cuckoo let me give her a ride in. Blanche followed me back out to dinner Cheetah, so I started herding the both...carefully. She decided to head back in, but Lark came out and headed off exploring. Cheetah wasn't herding too well, but I managed to corner him trying to go through the fence to the garden. He started to squawk, then settled when he realized all I was doing was holding him close. We went into the coop to wait for everyone else to settle back down and Lark to come in. He snuggled in, even tucking his beak in to me and took a brief nap in my arms. I finally gave up on Lark coming on her own, tucked Cheetah up (he got a bit disgruntled), and went to herd her. She herded in, door closed, head count, all present and tucked in. Snow falling, wind blowing, hearty soup for dinner and tomorrow off.
