Congrats!Hello everyone,
Been playing the catching-up-this-thread game. Congratulations to Bernie @RoyalChick Sorry @GregnLety about your sweet fat lady's passing. Congratulations to @Ponypoor and @knoturavggrl on getting brahamas. Congratulations to @TX Chick Noob on getting chicken time. I loved Rebecca's videos. I am sure I have missed lots of important events.
Chicken math has gotten to us. (No, it is more like we are fed up with city and its anti-chicken attitude). We are going to buy land and be farmers!!?? A new adventure?? For now, the plan is to buy land 30 minutes away, live in a trailer, sell our current house, and start to build a house in new land. And we will have LOTS OF chickens. Yummy yummy. We will still be working fully, so no, not farmers, but I will be starting a permaculture dream on my land.
I have no pictures, but I do have a precious broody video from last year, which seems very appropriate for spring.
I hope everyone is having a good night.
I am getting 5 Bielefelder pullets in April, they might fit your gang.Aww- how precious! Yes I have posted pictures of them, but there can never be enough pictures of them! Here they are:

This is my rooster Willow as a chick, he was having movie night with my family along with his three brothers. They’re all snuggle bugs, now I have only 2 roosters because my favorite was too overprotective of his girls and started attacking the kids but not me. Here he is (polish rooster) along with his brother. View attachment 3412494View attachment 3412495
Sending hugs your way Michelle - one has to have nerves of steel to have kids and petsYes, but we do our best anyway, and hope those we love know it.
She had some lovely respite time with all the care you gave her. Still I know it must be hard for you. All my thoughts are with you.Thank you. When I put her on the shelf, she realized how close she was to her favorite roost, and surprised me and jumped up to it. However, she was very wobbly, and could not keep her balance. She kept starting to fall off, so I moved her and her heating pad over to the opening to the second level coop. The floor of the coop is at the same level as the roosts in the main coop. I put her in the doorway right beside Little Mill. She has a low watt heating pad under her and a light towel over her. I’d say there’s zero chance she’ll make it through the night. I’ll keep checking on her and I’ll probably take her out when she goes. I only worked a half day at work today and brought her out in the sunshine for a bit. She also heartily ate some scrambled egg. At least she got to experience those two little bits of comfort in the midst of her suffering.
Thanks, Kelly. I keep wondering if I should go check the coop, but what would that do besides let in a cool breeze? There is nothing more I can do for Lucky. It’s cold out and I don’t want her to be cold. But I also don’t want to remove her from the comfort of her friends and home. I hope the 4 watt heating pad helps and the towel helps stop any little draft that might be there.Sending hugs your way Michelle - one has to have nerves of steel to have kids and pets![]()
I would say let her be, if she passes then she is with her friends and feels safe. Thanks, Kelly. I keep wondering if I should go check the coop, but what would that do besides let in a cool breeze?
