Actually, I suppose that's another reason to make my chickens stay in the run.Our rather eccentric neighbor has 11 half-feral kitties (at last count).
Vet missed it. Sis figured it out about 3 weeks ago when she noticed she was getting "fat". Truth be told, sis is not too upset. Where I am the "Crazy chicken lady" of the family my sister is the "Crazy cat lady." She called the vet to inform them she thought she was pregnant. They told her she was too far along to do anything about it then, but when she had them to call and they would push back her spay appointment to when the kittens are between 4 and 5 weeks old. I will not be getting one, I already have 2 huge dogs and a cat inside. That does not mean I cannot visit them and spoil them until it is time to find them homes. It sounds like it was a surprise! Surely the vet caught this! What little sweeties.I miss having a cat. Our rather eccentric neighbor has 11 half-feral kitties. I'm not adding to the neighborhood!
I have not had good luck with wing clipping. It makes it harder for them to fly, but the determined ones still do fly. and have gotten over my 5' fence. Also, note that IF you clip the wing feathers, you have to re-clip fairly regularly, as they will regrow (at least annually, but some hens replaced their primaries despite the feather being trimmed, not plucked. more often than with the annual molt.)Could they if a wing was clipped? I've considered letting mine out to free-range, but we have so many hawks in the area I'm afraid to.
I think I want all of them including Trash Kitty!I have to make a excuse to visit my sister now. Around Thanksgiving she noticed a stray half grown kitten. She was tearing up trash so she nicknamed her trash kitty and set out to catch her. A week before Christmas she finally managed to be able to touch her and brought her inside. Took her to the vet the next day for her shots and health check as she already has our old cat Jynx. They also made a spay appointment for February 27th. Well, look what Reece's, formally known as Trash Kitty gifted her with last night.
